The host and waitress were lovely. Service was truly great all around. The restaurant itself had a fascinating aesthetic. I loved the pulley lights framing the fireplace.

The soups were also great. The French Onion was a bit salty to my taste, but had a good flavor. The clam chowder was actually my favorite that I've had since moving to New England.

However, the burger and fries were truly horrendous. They were the worst I've had in over twenty years. I ordered my burger "pink" per the menu, expecting a juicy, flavorful bite with a touch of pink. What I received was a historical artifact. This patty wasn’t cooked—it may have been excavated from the ruins of Pompeii. If I had known my meal would be carbon-dated rather than plated, I would have brought a chisel and a team of archaeologists instead of a fork and knife. Somewhere, a museum is missing an exhibit.

The bun and bacon jam tried their best, but no amount of sauce could rehydrate what I can only assume was the final meal of a gladiator before Vesuvius erupted. And then came the fries - they were harder than my will to finish this meal. Each bite threatened my dental insurance. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to snack on obsidian shards, I highly recommend giving them a try.

We love eating at 1754 House. My husband and I were big fans prior to having our daughter and frequented often. After we had our daughter with food allergies we took a break from eating out. We have been here twice with our toddler with food allergies and they have been amazing accommodating her each time. (and our food is always amazing as well). I have spoken personally to the Chef and our waitress both times were very aware and understanding of her food allergies. It's truly been a life changing experience for our family and we are so thankful to the entire restaurant and staff.

I recently stayed at the old Curtis House now 1754 House. Wonderful place if you need to stay around Woodbury and want to get off the beaten path. Very friendly and helpful staff. They have a complimentary light morning breakfast with coffee and pastry. I was happy to see the oatmeal 🙂 Location is in a historic district, very close to many antique stores. Restaurant is also top notch and they even have a very cool bar in the basement with occasional live blues/jazz bands. Rooms are comfy and have a very rustic feel. Lots of squeaky floor boards, which adds to the charm of the place. The restaurant alone is worth the trek if you want something special. They are all set up for the holidays, and this would be perfect place to take the family for a special holiday dinner. Thank you for making my stay so memorable.

Fantastic gluten-free options. The fish and chips was excellent. The head chef brought my meal down personally so that he could ensure I got the right thing.

The older woman at the hostess station was a little rude and condescending but it didn't sour the overall experience

Cara and her team at 1754 House Restaurant & Tavern brought our wedding vision to life. From our initial booking—before the carriage house was even finished—to the final touches, Cara was there every step of the way. Despite the venue being just a shell at first, we knew it was the right choice. The communication throughout the planning process was outstanding, and the food exceeded our expectations, accommodating all our dietary needs seamlessly. We cannot recommend this historic venue highly enough.

-We also stayed at the inn which was absolutely wonderful. We have nothing but great things to say!

Not only have I recommended this place to my friends and family because it is my favorite restaurant in the area, but they just outdid themselves this evening when I ordered through DoorDash and my Dasher forgot my dessert and I called and told them it was missing… and the owner and chef himself delivered my dessert to my front door. Talk about amazing wonderful people and customer service on top of the delicious amazing food. Thank you so much. I had a very rough day today and you guys made it soo much better. I feel star struck 🤩 thank you! I give five stars out of five on all areas for some reason it’s not letting me save on my review!

Took my parents to 1754 House for their 65th Anniversary. The food and the service were outstanding. Easy access for those with less mobility, all dishes were a bit unique, with excellent presentation and preparation. Although each of us ordered something different, each meal was prefectly done. Thank you, we will be back again!

All of our food was excellent. Very nice ambiance with the fireplaces going. Server tim was great, very professional and helpful with the menu. Cauliflower au gratin was phenomenal as well as the Brussel sprouts. Gouda mac n cheese with bacon in skillet was excellent, just how mac n cheese should be, perfect consistency. Short rib sandwich was great. Fish and chips was great. Not beer battered, more of a dry batter, and tartar sauce was SO good, coleslaw that came with it was... interesting, not my favorite. Duck fat fries are heavy, a little salty, but also excellent. White chocolate creme brulee had maybe too much sugar on top but was very very good nonetheless. Would definitely return to try more of the menu. Very satisfied. Prices are fair.
