What an amazing property. We attended for a weekend on a wedding rate and felt like it was very reasonable. Our room was in the main hotel 4th floor and was huge with a big closet that hotels don’t have anymore. I had read a couple of novels set at the Greenbrier, one on Dorothy Draper, so I was here for the decor. So unique. We felt that food and drink, while pricey, wasn’t any more than other big vacation destinations. Of course, the historic preservation fee is added on everything but the upkeep on this place has to be incredible! We dined at the breakfast buffet and the Italian restaurant. Both were very good. The casino was a blast. Spent some time at the outdoor pool and loved the bunker tour with our guide, Alan. So the resort is in need of paint and tlc in some spots but it’s so huge …it’s ongoing ! Thought it was surprising that they are totally out of golf shirts in all the shops…said they are waiting on an order? Selling those seems like a slam dunk. Wish we had one more night!

We decided to spend our anniversary at the Greenbrier and it was wonderful! We were warmly welcomed by the staff and there were flowers and chocolates in our room with a nice note from Jill Justice wishing us all the best. The grounds are immaculate. We enjoyed afternoon tea daily and our anniversary dinner at their Italian restaurant, The Forum, was exceptional! What an unforgettable memory!

The resort is beautiful and the people were very nice, however it did feel as though the product was not worth the price. Meals and snacks were ok, activities were challenging to book (you had to call each individual vendor) and were significantly more than listed on the website (the prices listed seemed to be the fee for the block of time, everything else was extra.) Overall, we are glad we went to experience this historical palce, but have enjoyed other similar resorts more.

I really wasn't sure what to expect at such a resort. Upon our arrival, we were offered a glass of Champaign each - no charge! From our check in to our check out, we were treated first class by all employees. Staff was so friendly and helpful too! We walked around the entire inside of the buildings and floors and could not believe how impeccable everything was!! The carpets, furniture, painting statues, walls (painted and sometimes with murals) was amazing! The number of HUGE and fancy carpets, mirrors, paintings, statues and chandeliers made you think you were royalty and living in a mansion! One of the chandeliers in the building was the exact one from the movie - "Gone With The Wind"! The grounds of the hotel were gorgeous and phenomenal too! We were there only one night so we utilized the casino (slot machines only, not tables). To get into the casino, you must use your room key card to prove you are a guest at the hotel since the casino is not open to the public. Not as many slot machines as a Hollywood casino or Hard Rock casino but we had fun and the casino prices are the same as other casinos. Our room was very nice in the main building and very quite. Our room was very clean, bed comfortable and the shower stream strong with plenty of hot water. The room had a mini refrigerator that was stocked with drinks (alcohol and soda's) with prices for each posted. They also had hard liquor, water and wine on top of the refrigerator with prices posted for each. To the right of the refrigerator, they had snacks/candy available with prices posted for each. Food room service was available but we did not use this service. The rooms had actual glasses, not plastic cups, to drink from including wine/ Champaign glasses. Since we were on there one night, the only service we used was the casino. However, the book in the room says they have everything one could possible want to do! Way too many activities to list here. Only thing we noticed that parking (we did not valet parking) appeared to be very limited and could be a bit of a walk to get to the hotel. I was lucky and got a close spot. They do have a shuttle bus that runs every 5-7 minutes to talk you anywhere on the huge hotel properties since some rooms are not in the main hotel; like cottages. Parking is free unless you used valet parking. We were in shock and awe staying at this place!!!!

This was a step back in to the 1940’s. Truly a historic place that is starting to show it’s age. Many dining options and gorgeous grounds are notable. Sam Sneads is a good place to dine if you enjoy golf history. Service is representative of days past. We were treated as ladies and gentlemen. Nice walking around the golf course on marked walking trails. If you take a close look at the building, you will see that some serious maintenance is in order. The worst problem was the antiquated HVAC system. It was so noisy, we were regularly awakened throughout the night. This was our first stay here. Not sure we would return as the $550/night room rate didn’t seem to offer much value. Practically everything has a high price tag that seems over priced.

We visit the Greenbrier often. It is one of our favorite getaways. It is a very charming & relaxing place. It’s historical uniqueness is lovely. The staff and service is always exceptional. We have did just about every activity at the resort from falconry, glass blowing, bowling, carriage rides, sleigh rides, horseback riding, gun club, spa, salon, pools, escape rooms, Farm to table dinner, murder mystery dinner, Jeep driving adventure, Bunker tour, Ice skating, glass fusing, Rzr Driving adventure and many more and nothing has ever disappointed. This resort is much classier and upscale then other nearby VA resorts. We always have a great time!

The Greenbrier is a luxury resort that has good food and rooms that I consider "shabby chic". The wall coverings are old fashioned and elegant, but need some tender loving care (our desk chair had a seat fabric that was torn). There is a whole plethora of activities available from golf to horseback riding. One of the best activities is a tour of the bunker that was built to house the US House and Senate in the event of a nuclear attack ($47/person). The rooms are nice sized, but tend to be somewhat lacking in electrical or electronic outlets. It was interesting that our room with two standard sized double beds came with one robe! The TV did not always work and several stations were unwatchable - the service person said they would have to replace the tv cable that was under the carpet! Just before we arrived we saw on the news that the facility had been removed from the auction block the day before.

We stayed for 2 nights, while on holiday from UK, in a superior twin queen bed room, primarily to do the bunker tour.|The hotel is very impressive and (after reading others reviews) in better condition than we expected.|Our room was very large and very comfortable with a good bathroom. |All staff members we interacted with were very friendly and chatty.|The bunker tour is excellent. Richard was very knowledgeable and entertaining.|We ate in The Forum one night, but were very disappointed in the value for money for the price paid. Our bottle of wine was of low quality and our three different pasta dishes were only average at best and not worthy of the price paid.|Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Greenbrier, but would be very unlikely to return as the value for money is lacking for the cost.
