We were on our way from Lake Tahoe, traveling with kids, and needed to make a stop for the night in our RV. We decided to stop at Hawks Newt RV Camp and take the opportunity to see the lava beds. Upon arrival, we met Jim, the owner, who was an extremely pleasant individual. We felt very welcomed, and he made sure we had everything we needed.

The camp is very clean, with spacious spots for RVs, showers, and toilets, all exceptionally well maintained. There’s a huge play area for kids, and we even played soccer with my son. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again in the future. Oh, and even though check-out is at 11 AM, they allowed us to check out later since we wanted to see some caves.

We recently had our stay at Hawks Nest and it was a good experience. They answered all our questions and they even got us in a day early as we were ahead of schedule on our trip so that was greatly appreciated. We did a tent site and had no problem fitting our larger tent in our area. We did have a hard time figuring out where the sites were as some of the tent sites were not well labeled. All in all a good place and location. It was easy to find and made doing our activities in the area easier.

We reserved cabin 10 because it has a full kitchen and bath, plus a queen sized bed - our minimum requirements. But we were questioning our decision because an excessive heat warning made air conditioning essential and there was nothing about AC in the cabin description. Imagine our delight when we drove up to the cabin and saw an air conditioner in the window!

This cabin is new and equipped with a top notch range and refrigerator. it is more spacious than we expected, with a nice sofa and a spacious dining room table with four comfortable chairs. The cabin had a couple of minor flaws that were immediately addressed after we pointed them out.

Lava Beds NM was well worth a day of our time, and this cabin made that day possible. Thank you Hawk's Nest!

Enjoyed our time there. Very quiet and clean. It will be a little dusty but so be it. Seen them hosted at check in, nice people. Close to Lava Beds NM. Only negative is the shower was terrible. Wive and niece were in theirs and myself in mine. The water was either scalding hot or ice cold. Couldn't get it adjusted. Get that fixed and it would be 5 stars!

Great facility in a great location. We stayed here for one night in a cabin on our way back from the BMW MOA Nationals in Oregon. Beautiful location. Tranquil and spacious. Very friendly operators. The cabin was super comfortable and well equipped. We appreciated the full kitchen and the electric heaters during our stay. The shower facilities were some of the cleanest we have ever seen!
Totally loved the place and can't wait to come back

Can’t speak on the rooms - as I just popped in for a second.

Jim, one of the names listed to call on the front door - is a SUPER generous guy. Some mapping software suggests this place has fuel for sale.

They do not!

He offered some of his top shelf fuel for me, as I passed through in my motorcycle, which was running on fumes. I would love to repay him the next time I’m through.

Great place to stay, we were here for the first week in June. Had 3 nights tent camping, then 1 night in a nice cabin due to a freak hailstorm. Pam made sure we were well taken care of. Can't wait to go back. Have to add that the restroom/shower facilities were the best I ever had at a campground.

We stayed here at the beginning of July and were impressed by the cleanliness, spacious RV spaces and general tranquility. The cabins give the feeling of a vintage 1970s summer camp which was charming. It was also a very easy 20 minute drive to Lava Beds National Monument which make it the perfect campground to explore the park.
