We are visiting from the UK, and went to The Big Easy twice in two days! Flamenco on Saturday was wonderful, and the fantastic Chuck Sher and Friends for a brilliant, laid back Sunday from 2.00 - 4.30. The food was great, good variety and catered for various dietary requirements and the team there were lovely and so friendly. We'll be back in the week for the brass band.

Hidden behind the spirited streets of downtown Petaluma, the Big Easy is a hidden gem. Located at 128 American Alley this cozy underground venue captures an ambiance that feels both inviting and full of charm.

Only steps away from Petaluma Boulevard, the Big Easy is among other businesses such as Cafe Zazzle and shops like The Beeb. Although it is lively to be in the middle of it all, the parking will be a challenge for this one. There are a few parking lots within walking distance, but they can fill up quickly especially during weekends and events. There is also street parking, but be aware of the time limits. I advise you to arrive early to ensure a good spot!

The Big Easy offers hours from 6:30pm everyday until 12am Friday and Saturday, and 11pm the rest of the week. These hours definitely favor those night owls as well as those looking for a fun evening out. It’s important to also note this venue is not a kid friendly place. With its focus on live entertainment and a bar setting, the Big Easy is tailored for a more mature crowd specifically 21 and older. While families have to find another spot to hangout in, this is the perfect spot for adults looking to unwind. The entrance fee was $10. The Big Easy is also wheelchair accessible with its entrance and restrooms. Regardless of mobility, you’ll feel at home.

I personally found this place a lot of fun since it brings back that 1920s speak easy aesthetic. There was dim, yellow lighting which added to it. It’s all inclusive with music, local wines and craft beers along with some delicious dinner. I personally only had a beer, but it was light and refreshing! The waiter was polite and quick. Although the evening I went wasn’t a dance packed night or a super pumped energy, I still loved the crowd and environment. It was mellow, yet filled with people. This venue plays music from blues to jazz to folksy. I enjoyed that the vibe was more laid back than a wild Gatsby party. My friends and I had a great time taking in the energy of the crowd and being able to share a few laughs with some live tunes in the background.

The layout of The Big Easy is intimate yet functional. There are booths that line on either side of the venue which creates a homely spot for groups or couples to settle in. If you like to be in the middle of all the action while enjoying your food and drinks there are also tables that fill the center in front of the dance floor. Right by the dance floor is the stage.

Overall, to the beautiful people of Sonoma County and visitors abroad I would recommend trying this place out at least once. Especially if you’re seeking a relaxed and fun experience with a touch of vintage charm. The Big Easy offers a laid-back speakeasy vibe. While there is an entrance fee and occasionally subdued energy, it's still a great place for locals and visitors alike to unwind, enjoy live music, and savor a mellow night out. Although I couldn’t get around to the full experience of the food and cocktails there’s always a next time.

Food exceeded our expectations. Shirt ribs were excellent, lobster Mac& cheese was decadent. Even the French fries were perfect: crispy outside and pillowy soft inside.

No cover charge to see Grateful Dead tribute band "Dead Again" and they're pretty darn good - can't beat that! Small, intimate venue. Will be returning again and again- oh yeah!
