If you book on Expedia there is no mention of a hefty parking fee. The room we stayed in for 5 nights was average.

Very thin walls. The amenities in the rooms need to be improved. An addition of a microwave would be very helpful! The bed and pillows are very comfortable.

The bathroom is tiny but functional. Some rooms have no tubs. The direct view of the ocean from the lobby is wonderful and the best part.

Staff is accommodating overall. They could slow down when explaining the offerings at check in. Kimberly at the bar in the lobby is a gem.

The bar is a lively atmosphere and offers a nice choice of food and good libations. They offer wine cards for free samples. My son had to explain the wine machine as it confused many. The gift shop is overpriced and not worth it.

Many guests bring their dogs of all sizes here so if you don’t like dogs that’s important to know.

The restaurant has a decent menu with many variations and locally sourced foods. There is a fitness center and a pool. It was too chilly to swim but looked nice.

The fire pits lit at night are a welcome addition.

Hotel is Convenient to all areas of Monterey. Best to visit in the warmer months!

Less parking fees and more amenities in the rooms and a coffee area in the lobby would add another star.

One of the only beachfront hotels in Monterey, this has prime beach views that are amazing. Waves come right up to the hotel bulwark, really enjoyable to work from my hotel room overlooking the ocean. I HIGHLY recommend booking the oceanfront room, you’ll be glad you did.

Sophia from housekeeping was so warm and friendly and always took time to chat and help in any way. Be sure to stop by at the bar and say hi to Erika, great bartender with a killer old fashioned. The front desk staff were also very friendly and accommodating.

The hotel has a large, clean fitness center which was a nice touch.

The only negative was the $40/day parking fee, which I think is unnecessary for the location.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for the views and accommodations.

I was initially hesitant about this hotel based on some reviews, but as a Marriott member who has visited many locations, I was pleasantly surprised. This property has been newly renovated, and as soon as you drive up and step inside, the breathtaking location becomes evident—right in front of Monterey Beach. The lobby is clean and well-kept. Although it’s smaller than some other Marriott hotels, they’ve used the space efficiently.

The rooms were a good size, very clean, and well-arranged despite the limited space. We were a family of four—three adults and a toddler—and it worked perfectly for us. I noticed several reviews mentioning high rates, but considering we stayed over Veterans Day weekend during the Monterey Half Marathon, it’s understandable that prices were higher. We paid about $620 per night, though I've since seen rates between $200 and $350, likely due to the hotel’s response to guest feedback.

Overall, I’d gladly return to this location—it was a wonderful stay!

The Marriot Beach Hotel is a super cool older property right off CS1. Quiet, small (only three levels of rooms), gorgeous beach front. These are quaint, romantic rooms from a time before giant hotels with endless, impersonal rooms. A beautiful outdoor deck with fire pits and lots of room to sit and enjoy the fresh ocean air and crashing waves. The gym was great and they have a heated pool. The Sand Dunes Trail is right out front-great for walks or a quick run! The restaurant was very good. A cute lobby area with a bar and tons of seating to relax. The staff, as usual, was fantastic. I would like to give a special thank you to Avery behind the bar. She spent time one night helping create a non-alcohol Old Fashioned for me. That may not seem like a lot, but to me it was. And I truly, truly appreciate that. She has no idea how important that was for me. Thank you, Avery!

Beautiful view and overly drinks, what a wonderful experience! Our bartender Avery was terrific, so kind and friendly and helpful. She made sure we were happy and well taken care of. The drinks were absolutely delicious and this is one if the best views on the peninsula. We will definitely be back!

I have been going to this lounge since before moving here in 2018. It is a great place to meet people who are visiting from around the world. I bring my boxer dog most of the time and she is welcome here. The view, especially the sunsets, absolutely amazing. The hotel sits right on the beach so you can watch waves breaking (sometimes), and I've even seen whales breaching in the bay. The place has had a full face lift and even better than it was before. If you're the type that gets cold, you can sit by the large fireplace inside. I've also enjoyed sitting outside at a firepit where you can hear the waves breaking. Just watch out for the seagulls! Most of the time Erika is bartending and she goes above and beyond when it comes to customer service. All in all, I certainly enjoy my time at the Monterey Beach Hotel!

Staying here was pretty good. I enjoyed the view & the sound of the ocean throughout the night. Most of the service was great. Monday night we went to the bar to get to Shirley temples. When we ordered from the bartender, she served us one. When we asked for another, she rolled her eyes and continue to make the second one. Then when we asked for straw, she pointed across the bar for us to get it ourselves. Besides having one rude bartender, I had a great stay.

We have been coming here for over 30 years. It was nice to see the updates to the property. The location, on the beach, is so nice. The hotel is dog friendly. We had a great meal in the bar lounge and really enjoyed the interactions with the personnel there, specifically Julio, Erika and Kim. They made us feel welcome and really seemed to enjoy their work.
