We have been cruising for over 20 years and have not previously encountered an operation similar to the Anchorage Hospitality Center.

Due to geography cruise ships are not able to dock in Anchorage, and must dock about an hour south in Whittier. With flights into/out of Anchorage limited there is often, as in our case, 12 hours or more between disembarking and flight departure. HAL and other cruise lines have arranged to use the Anchorage Hospitality Center as a transition point to help with the "dead time" experienced by some passengers. Lots of space is available, services to handled luggage and even carry-on bags or backpacks, restrooms, tables, snacks and soft drinks from vending machines, information about local attractions and services, information about hotel reservations and more are available here.

Many of the low ratings appear to be due to the CRUISE LINE deficiencies, which are beyond the control of the hospitality center. In our experience the staff and services of the hospitality center were, across the board, excellent.
