An Alaskan cruise has been on our dream vacation list for years -- several decades, at least. Thanks to Travel Planning by Brenda for Ideas, Inspirations and VIP Experiences, who got a great deal for us on The Grand Princess, we finally managed to go! The Cases made all the arrangements for us, and all of our travel transfers were accomplished smoothly and efficiently.

It's actually a bit late in the season for an Alaskan cruise: the weather was not great; the day we arrived in Whittier to board the ship, so did one of their first winter storms, which meant the ship had to delay leaving port by several hours. But by the time the cruise was over we had sunny skies and warm temps again. It was always fascinating to us how such a large vessel could maneuver so well, with a tight turning radius and efficient and effective stabilizers. You could barely tell you were moving unless you were looking at the scenery pass.

The ship had a number of varied and different types of entertainment, menus, pretty much whatever you could want, although, to be honest, we spent most of our time watching the wonderful scenery from our balcony. We'll always take mountains -- misty or otherwise -- over sunny beaches, and Alaska certainly does not disappoint! We will always be thrilled by the memories from this trip.
