I've been a frequent supporter of local hobby stores my whole life. Ever sense moving to tricities almost a decade ago Adventures Underground has been the only place to get D&D and MtG merchandise locally for myself and my friends, and I've been happy to support them. However, ever sense covid, I've noticed a slow but consistent downturn in availability for D&D miniatures, books etc. that hasn't been resolved or addressed in any meaningful way other than a front counter person stating, "We can order it in for you online if you'd like." Which is bizarre, when I can just order the same thing online for cheaper myself, making the point redundant. That and the back area of the store used to have tables for warhammer players to play and show off the stuff they bought at the store and encourage more people to try the hobby. While nerd hobbies such as MtG, Warhammer and D&D have been slowly phased out, more and more "gooner" merchandise has been piling up in the middle isles of the store, making it difficult to bring my kids in when they have to walk eye level with barely clothed figurines that I have to rush them past. This has been extremely frustrating because I keep thinking I can go to my local hobby store to get things I need or check out new items that have come in, only to see barely stocked shelves with convenient excuses to hand wave away why nothing gets better year over year.

Dispite how my review reads, I am not mad at the staff (they are quite nice), I'm not mad at the prices, I'm just upset that a local 3rd space to enjoy my hobbies has been turned into a glorified coffee shop with a Spencer's attached to it.

Adventures Underground Book and Game Store: A Modern-Day Library of Alexandria

In an age where knowledge often feels diluted by the overwhelming noise of digital distractions, Adventures Underground stands as a resplendent beacon of enlightenment—the greatest bastion of knowledge since the Library of Alexandria. Nestled away from the chaos of the modern world, this extraordinary book and game store invites patrons into a realm where curiosity reigns supreme and imagination knows no bounds.

Upon entering Adventures Underground, visitors are instantly enveloped by an ambiance that encourages exploration. The shelves are stacked high with an astonishing array of books, each waiting to impart wisdom or transport readers to far-off lands and fantastical realms. Whether you’re searching for the latest bestseller, a vintage collectible, or an obscure tome that has eluded you for years, the knowledgeable staff is always on hand to guide you through the literary labyrinth, much like the learned scholars of antiquity who dedicated their lives to preserving wisdom.

But Adventures Underground is not just a sanctuary for literature; it is also a vibrant hub for gamers, where tabletop adventures come alive. The selection of games—encompassing everything from classic board games to the latest role-playing epics—stands as a tribute to the power of play as a vehicle for storytelling and community-building. Here, warriors gather to strategize, wizards cast spells, and friends forge bonds over shared quests, reminiscent of the symposia where great minds once convened to share ideas and foster creativity.

What truly sets Adventures Underground apart is its unwavering commitment to fostering a sense of community. The store regularly hosts events, from book signings and author readings to gaming nights that draw in enthusiasts from all walks of life. This commitment creates a welcoming atmosphere that encourages conversations and connections—just as the Library of Alexandria was once a melting pot of cultures and knowledge.

In conclusion, Adventures Underground is more than just a bookstore and game shop; it is a treasure trove of knowledge, creativity, and camaraderie. For those who seek to expand their minds and feed their imaginations, it stands as a modern testament to the enduring power of literature and play in enriching the human experience. A visit to Adventures Underground is not just a shopping trip; it is a pilgrimage to the heart of what it means to explore the infinite realms of possibility.

My wife and I adore this place for our date days! They've got a huge selection for nerds – D&D stuff, comics, manga, figurines, tons of books... you name it. You could easily spend ages just browsing. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and they'll even order stuff in if they don't have it! Definitely check it out – and if you get thirsty, there's even a café with beer!

If you haven't been before, GO!

Love this place so much! My kids are always so pumped to go here. Great selection. Super helpful/friendly staff. My one gripe is the record section. Not a great selection and most are overpriced. Not many options for vinyl in town though so I'm still glad they are around.

Books and game area is best in town IMO. Support this awesome local business!

Staff is very friendly and the store is organized well. Prices could be a little better but based on location it’s a good option. Great selection of used and new books, manga, and movies. There is a good selection of anime figures available here as well.

We were in the market for board games and kids activities and this place over exceeded our expectations! They had in stock each game we were looking for and we added several to our wishlist while perusing! They had a neat train table area for my 2 little kiddos to play at while we searched. They had lots of fun Melissa and Doug kids activities. Looked like they had a great book and comic selection as well. The store is very well organized and the staff was very friendly. They also have a neat room in the back where you can go with friends and try out playing lots of games! I'll definitely be back!

I visited this café/bookshop the last couple times I came to visit my Partner in town. I absolutely love this spot and everyone is so so sweet. The food is amazing, a ton of book options, Asian snack and the servers are so polite. They have a ton of options for food drinks and books. Their chicken options are super good. I highly recommend going here!!
