My husband and I took the High Speed Ferry from New London to Block Island, and it was a wonderful experience! The ride offered stunning views of coastal Connecticut and New England, including glimpses of Fishers Island and Block Island's beautiful coastline. The high-speed ferry truly cruises along, making the journey quick and enjoyable—our trip there took about 1 hour and 30 minutes, while the return was just 55 minutes!

The ferry crossing to Block Island has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century, with small packet boats originally serving the island. The service evolved over time, particularly with the formation of Interstate Navigation Company in 1933, which established year-round ferry routes. Over the years, the service has adapted to meet growing demands, including the introduction of high-speed vessels like the one we took.

Having previously only taken the ferry out of Point Judith, this experience was a significant improvement. The convenience, speed, and comfort of the New London route made it our preferred choice, and we'll definitely be returning for another trip to Block Island soon! Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a quick and scenic journey to this charming island.

Hour and 20(ish) minute boat ride from new London ct to orient point! One of the best ferry experiences! Lots of seating options & levels available both inside and outside. bar with a full breakfast & lunch menu. A lounge and museum offered onboard. The staff was amazing & the ride was smooth! The bathrooms were kept nice and clean as well which is a big plus for me!

Took this ferry today to see lighthouses. Part of the tour was very foggy, and the boat could not take us to all of them, but we went to other places and still got our 2 hours. The narration was very informative.

★★★★★ Smooth, Scenic, and Stress-Free Travel with Cross Sound Ferry!

Taking the Cross Sound Ferry was an absolute pleasure! From start to finish, the experience was seamless, well-organized, and incredibly convenient.

The boarding process was efficient, with friendly staff ensuring everything ran smoothly. The ferry itself was clean, comfortable, and spacious, offering both indoor seating and open-air decks for those who want to enjoy the stunning water views.

Speaking of views—whether you’re sailing at sunrise, midday, or sunset, the scenery is breathtaking! Watching the coastline, lighthouses, and passing boats made the trip even more enjoyable.

The ferry was punctual, and the ride was smooth, making it a stress-free alternative to long drives. Plus, the onboard amenities, including snacks and refreshments, were a nice touch.

Overall, Cross Sound Ferry exceeded my expectations. It’s the perfect way to travel between Connecticut and Long Island while enjoying a relaxing journey. Highly recommend!

Will definitely be using this service again!

The ferry ride is cool, but it is far too expensive making it a predominantly white ride. I didn't see a single minority passenger in this sneaky tactic of segregation. To top it off, on our ride home, there was an American rally (which again, only white people) which made our minority free ride incredibly uncomfortable. These rich white folk took up all our seats so I felt awkward walking around just to try and view the sunset. The only minorities that we did see were the workers which makes me even more embarrassed to have been a passenger.
