We had an exceptional experience with Alaska Bear Trips! The morning started out questionable due to extreme fog. The hangar had a cozy spot to wait with snacks and drinks, as we were waiting for an update from the pilot. In case we wouldn’t be able to fly out to Katmai that morning, Isaac offered to take us out on the next sunny day, which would have been their scheduled maintenance day. Luckily, we were able to head out about an hour later, and we found out that we were the only flight that left from Anchorage that day. All other Anchorage based companies ended up cancelling. The weather cleared up near Katmai, and we were able to enjoy the scenic views from above. Our pilot, Curtis, was extremely informative, experienced (over 50 years of flying), and was highly praised by the rangers at Katmai. He had a great sense of humor and kept us all entertained! Out of our party of 4, this was the highlight of everyone’s trip!
