Sophisticated and magical.
Our experience hosting our daughter’s wedding as well as our own 37 years ago was nothing but exceptional at the Waveny house.
Bea Watkins, at Waveny, was always available to answer the littlest questions And guide us stress-free through the planning process.
It was like entertaining in our own home, and add in the extraordinary views, the exquisite gardens, and the history and grandeur of the mansion. This is the third event our family has hosted at Waveny over many decades. And our experience in memories are cherished.

Great place to walk, jog and ride a bike on manicured trails. People social distance, some grab a mask if you walk by them, most don't. Trails are friendly, safe and kept clean. The building itself is closed to the public and look to be having modifications to its exterior.

Live music and awsome sunsets make for a great night at this beautiful park on the grounds of a restored mansion. Plenty of parking. Some nice trails. The venue hosts weddings, summer concerts and other events on the numerous patios. We went to see the Bookends Band perform in the summer concert series. Bring your own lawn chairs.

The house was built in the middle of Waveny Park and finished construction in 1912. Multiple designers were working on the house, including W.B. Tubbs and the garden by Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. for the current owner. Lewis Lapham co-founded Texaco and ordered the house to be built. However, it was only a summer home for him and his family.

After 1967, ownership changed from Lapham to the Town of New Canaan. The house was sold along with its property for $1,500,000. Today, the Town of New Canaan still owns the property and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
