Magnificent property on 200 acres in NE Connecticut includes several restored historic buildings. Remote location, but well worth the trip. Woodstock Sustainable Farm is a working organic farm with extensive gardens, horses, chickens, cattle, sheep, pigs, etc. Owner Ken Rapoport is a warm host with a fascinating life story. He was generous with his time and gave an interesting educational tour of the farm and offered thoughtful perspective on what conditions make for happy farm animals. We gained a deep understanding of his passion for the animals in his care and the farming techniques he uses to keep them safe, happy and healthy. Ken is experimenting with new wind and solar technologies (farm can produce surplus power and new LI batteries are on their way) as well as with the use of radiant floor heating to keep the young chicks warm. Bedrooms are generously proportioned. The breakfast served in front of an applewood fire each morning was superb with much of the expertly prepared food coming from the property. The large property is near the top of a hill with great vistas. Hawks circled overhead and wild turkeys can be found occasionally on the grounds. There are several running and hiking trails that are convenient to the property. So many great things to say about this truly unique property.

Everything about my stay at Woodstock Sustainable Farms was an absolute pleasure. Its bucolic location in the Northeast corner of Connecticut is gorgeous; views from the rear patio of the antique B&B overlook a peaceful meadow and gardens, and extend miles into the distance. Breakfast, prepared by the very capable Paige, was delicious, and included many ingredients provided by the farm's gardens and livestock. An ATV tour of the farm provided by my host, Ken Rapoport, was an informative and interesting introduction to sustainable farming. I was intrigued by the innovative processes used--from providing chickens with continually clean, fresh, foraging space, to the use of solar, wind, and biofuel energy sources. It was a pleasure to see healthy chickens, cattle, pigs, and sheep being raised humanely and responsibly. ||||The B&B was comfortable, historic, charming, and well-appointed. My room was large and immaculate, with great views of the farm and meadows. I even had the pleasure of hand-picking produce from the organic gardens and retrieving warm eggs from the hens to take home with me. The town of Woodstock and the surrounding area is charming and historic--a great weekend getaway.

Simply fantastic! This is the best way to describe our stay at the Farm. This bed and breakfast is located in the heart of Connecticut's Quiet Corner and the Last Green Valley area, at a fully renovated house built in the late 18th century, with very well decorated spaces, large bedrooms, fully equiped bathrooms. It is located at the top of the hill from where you can enyoy the views of the beatifull surrounings and reach five states on clear days. ||From the farm you can drive around the small towns of Woodstock, Putnam and Sturbrigde, where you can find restaurants, pubs, tea houses, and everything you need during your stay.||The best part of our stay was to meet the wonderful staff, headed by the owner Ken, Paige, Jess, Ula and Don. They made their best to provide us with everything we needed for a perfect stay, drove us around the farm, give us recommendations about places to see, prepared excellent breakfasts and made us feel at home all the time. ||This is one of the most enjoyable place we've ever stayed at. ||Thanks to Ken and everyone.

Nobody wants to visit NE Ct do they? But just hearing the story of the sustainable farm was worth the visit. The hill top view at dusk made cocktails on the porch superb. The dinner was something we'd never known about- dining hearthside on lamb, bread, beans and cake all cooked in the fireplace. It was an authentic 18th century culinary adventure in keeping with the epoch of the stunning house. The ATVs, the drone, the antique autos, the beautiful interior decour and the "Innkeeper well met" made for a memorable visit.

Our stay was a wonderful multi-dimensional experience that was both historical and futuristic. The main house and separate cabin are 18th century structures, meticulously reassembled (having been moved from Rhode Island and upstate New York) and sited on a hill with a wide view of the Connecticut countryside. The beams and floorboards come from old-growth forests and bear the marks of the original hand tools used. Museum quality adornments and furniture abound, but the plumbing and electricity are all modern. The farm also has a fully functional Model A Ford.|| The working farm however looks to the future. The livestock are raised en plein air in an environmentally sustainable setting. The gardens are organic and the produce is spectacular. The laying hens produce premium Azuluna eggs whose shells have a blue tint. The effort is to produce better food in a humane way that preserves the environment and is economically successful.|| This is a very special place where one can relax, explore, learn, or reflect as one pleases!

At 85 to have had the exceptional experience of staying at this "little bit of Heaven" is beyond my ability to express adequately. The accommodations were wonderful. The mattress superb and the entire atmosphere one that provided total relaxation. Our Host was an extraordinary provider of Historical knowledge as well as gracious in the time he spent showing Farming at its very best. Thank you so much Ken, it has been a true highlight in my life.
