We absolutely LOVED the homemade beef and cheese empanadas!!! The lady at the counter is friendly and everything is very clean. The potato balls have a meat core which is a pleasant surprise. Everything is seasoned well and not overpowering. We also got a container of yellow rice and beans. The rice was perfect. Soft with black beans mixed in. I can not stress enough how you must try the homemade empanadas!!! You will not be disappointed. We will be back to try your chicken or steak ones next.

Our first time here was great. I love plantains and this one was very tasty. The storefront is small but perfect for take out or delivery. I saw a few signs for Grubhub. Parking is street parking, but I was able to find a spot in front of the door. Downtown Ansonia is very walkable. In the nicer weather, I can see myself walking around shopping and stopping in here for lunch.

This was our first time going here, but we had heard good things so we decided to give it a try. When we went in we were created by the owners mother who was very friendly. We ordered the combo plate that came with roasted pork, rice and beans as well as a beef and cheese empanada. As we were paying the owner came up to handle the credit card payment. He was friendly as well and said he looked forward to seeing business us again. Again, super friendly. I have to say the portions are large. The combo will take care of you if you are hungry. All of the food was great, pork had great flavor, the beans over the rice was exceptional. The empanada was hot and fresh. We’ll definitely be back again.

If I could give lower than 1 star, I would. We ordered some Puerto Rican food from around here. It was extremely BLAND!!! I never in my life had to pull out Sofrito, sazon, adobo, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to COOK this Pernil. Never again. I’m so upset.

It ended up tasting better after I put it on my stove and cooked it but if I’m ordering out, I should NOT have to cook it at home for flavor. This food was the MOST bland pernil dish I’ve ever experienced in my life. If not for the beans on the side, there wouldn’t be ANY flavor. The rice was flavorless, the pernil was flavorless, the beans had the BARE minimum of seasoning…

The next dish ordered for my house was the Carne Guisada… the potatoes were flavorless, the rice was the same as the pernil dish, the beef was not the best. I didn’t even put time into fixing it. MAJOR waste of my money. The dishes were not cheap either…. Overpriced and ridiculously bland.

Have tried a few different Spanish restaurants in the West Haven , Bridgeport and Waterbury area. Stopped by Empanadas to grab lunch and it was by far the best Spanish food I have had. If you are looking for good fresh Spanish food made from scratch then this is the place to go. All the employees were friendly and out going . This will defiantly be my go to Spanish food restaurant even though it is 24 min from home. It is well worth the trip. It’s a must try you won’t be sorry.

It's not bad at all, better than my cooking, for sure 😁. The selection is limited and menu changes almost every day but that's not bad because everything's fresh and delicious! The staff were polite and patient but the place is tiny and dining in is a no go.
There aren't a lot of Latin restaurants nearby and I recommend Empanadas for home style Latin cuisine at a decent price.

This place is GOLD. I had the homemade empanadas, potato balls and rice + beans. Everything was delicious! My mother and I went in after having to put her dog down. The lady at the counter was very empathetic and comforting towards her. I appreciated the empathy and so did my mother; especially when most would just do their job and disregard. Will definitely be stopping by here again!
