When we got engaged, I looked at surrounding towns that offered a barn wedding aesthetic. I was over the moon when I found the Hinterland for so many reasons! It was important to me that the venue worked with BIPOC/LGBTQ+ folks. I also loved that it was a woman-owned business!

The communication between myself and the owners/coordinator was excellent. I always got an email reply within a few days and whenever I felt like I was asking silly questions, Kristyn was always so kind and informative.

When we had our rehearsal dinner, Kristin was extremely helpful! She walked us all through the ceremony with so much patience. Kristin answered our questions, offered suggestions on what to do, and alleviated our nerves before the big day.

The decorations inside the barn are absolutely gorgeous! We received dozens of compliments from our guests. Plus, the Hinterland has the best spots for photos (especially with the foliage this year)!

Before we signed the contract, Kristyn was upfront and explained that there weren't any outside bar/beverage services allowed for liability reasons (which totally makes sense!).

This made it easier for us because providing alcohol was one less thing for us to worry about. Plus, the bartender, Lexi, was fantastic! She was super helpful on our big day and so sweet (thank you so much, Lexi!!).

I could go on for a while about how awesome this venue is. If you're looking for a barn to get married in, this is the one. Thank you to Kristyn, Kristin, Lexi, and the entire team at the Hinterland for everything!

I got married at The Hinterland on 10/13/23 and it was an absolute dream. From booking the venue to putting it all together, Kristyn was accommodating, great with communication and made everything so easy. She even helped set up the day before and helped with packing everything up at the end of the night. I would recommend The Hinterland to anyone looking for a quintessential New England barn wedding. And definitely indulge in the S’mores bar, my family is still talking about how great it was!

Both Kristyn and Kristin were wonderful to work with! Kristin was my day of coordinator and I did not have to worry about anything, everything went smoothly and turned out beautifully. The venue is stunning and has a gorgeous hill for photos. So excited to get our pictures back from our photographer. If you’re looking for a smaller venue and love a rustic look, PLEASE check this location out! It’s easy to find and I had such a great experience 😊

We held our cocktail hour and reception at The Hinterland in Oct 2023 and it was the most perfect venue for our wedding day. As soon as we toured the barn and met Kristyn we knew right away this is where we wanted to get married. We could tell she put a lot of hard work into the venue and we loved that quality about it.

As we were venue hunting we couldn't get over the cost of some venues and the fact that we couldn't really tell where our money was going but at The Hinterland you can tell where it goes because they are constantly making upgrades and adding gorgeous details to the barn to make it even better for the next wedding season.

Kristyn was amazing to work with, from the moment we booked to the day of the wedding. She was quick to respond to any questions we had and there was never a lack of communication. Kristyn and her staff set everything up the day of and it was perfect - just the way we wanted it. They also cleaned everything up at the end of the night and very neatly set it to the side for us to take home the following morning. If you're looking for a rustic wedding venue with charm The Hinterland is definitely the perfect place.

I just had my wedding ceremony and reception at The Hinterland I cannot say enough great things about the venue and working with the owner, Kristyn. She is super responsive, professional and well-organized. Kristyn is really easy to work with and the venue is absolutely beautiful!! So many of our guests commented about how gorgeous the barn is and that they loved how cozy and intimate the setting was.. it really is a unique place to get married 🙂 Kristyn and her team of ladies are so sweet and accommodating and HELPFUL!! They are a well-oiled machine and didn’t miss a beat the entire day/evening. The wedding coordinators are such a bonus to have included in your day. I would recommend The Hinterland 100 times over for any event or celebration!

The moment I set eyes on The Hinterland I knew it was where I wanted to get married. Kristyn has turned this quaint, rustic barn into a magical, sparkling wedding venue. The lighting gives off such a romantic and intimate vibe. The grounds, surrounded by trees and the CT Horseguard, provide a unique and beautiful setting for your ceremony. We were lucky enough to find this venue early to book an autumn wedding! We were able to make the barn and reception area our own and I was able to create my perfect wedding.

Kristyn was lovely to work with. She was quick to respond and helped make my wedding dreams a reality. The day of there were a few setbacks that Kristyn helped my vendors solve and when she saw the slightest bit of worry and stress on my face, she made sure I had everything I needed and reassured me all would be okay. Everything was better than okay and we had the most perfect wedding day.

I also have to mention, The Bar, which is the bar service through this venue, had quick, professional and talented bartenders. Our guests had a great time!
