The staff, the services and the facility were top tier for healing and rehabilitation after our recent medical adventure involving our elderly mother's fall and resulting cracks in her hip bones. The team approach for all services (admission, assessments, care planning, nursing, wound treatment, PT, OT, nutrition and communications with the family) was much appreciated. There was a clear continuity of care across all shifts, meeting all her needs. Particularly impressive was the frequency of heads poking in the room just to check on her, talk to mom, to assure her she was not alone; appreciated, loved and well supported. This was pivotal in her comfort and healing process. Special thanks to the whole of the team that I met on the 2nd floor; Aaron, Carl, Sarah, Ellyssia, Michelle, Amber, Angela, Quinnell, Patrick, Indria, Jamie Lee, Leah, Anna, Karolina, Sydney, Amy, Olivia, Alexi, and especially Matt in PT (mom has a crush on you!).. sorry if I missed anyone!! Also to Marianella in admissions, and Deanna as discharge planner. Truly a family, working together and loving their work and the people in their care. Many many thanks!!

Our family had a very positive experience at Waterโ€™s Edge. The staff was friendly and attentive. Not only did they care for our family member who was the patient but also making sure his primary care person who was visiting from morning till evening was comfortable and felt informed and with all services provided to the patient. Thank you very much to Waterโ€™s Edge nursing staff for their professionalism and compassion during a time of transition for our family member.

Special thanks to all staff on the 2nd floor. Room 201 nurses station was exceptional. Dad had trouble using his phone while at rehab. If he was trying to call me and having problems I would call the nurses station and they would go immediately to help him call me. They even charged his phone. This is just one of many assists. They truly care for patients and families. Thank you 2nd floor staff.

My mother was recently at Water's Edge for 4 weeks for short term rehab. The reason I selected Water's Edge is because the Regency House in Wallingford had no availability. My mother has stayed at Regency House in the past and she received good care there. Water's Edge is owned by the same company, and they had a private room for her. I hoped that they offered the same care as Regency House - they did not.
My mom arrived from the hospital at 1:00PM. I arrived to bring her clothing, etc. and to get her settled in at 4:30PM. My mom was in her bed with her oxygen off her face. She needed oxygen at that time just coming out of the hospital. She had no water on her tray and nothing to eat. Thankfully, she had eaten lunch at the hospital before she left. But, for all they knew she had not eaten lunch and she is a type 2 diabetic. She was offered nothing. I put her oxygen back on and asked for the nurse.
I asked one of the CNA's for a box of tissue and she said I could bring some from home and walked away. I then asked the nurse for a box of tissue, and he said they have plenty and brought a box. I also asked for a toothbrush/toothpaste and the usual toiletries that you receive. None of that was in her room and there was no welcome folder. I was not able to select her menu items for her first week as it was too late in the day. I did not even know there were "extra" menu items that you could write in until week 2 when the list was pinned on her board.
Our first impression with dinner was not good. It was mushy BBQ meatloaf with green beans on a styrofoam plate. No other side and no dessert or fruit. I asked that they make her a grilled cheese as it was quick to make. It was after 6:00PM at this point and she had not eaten anything since lunch. I will say my mom ate a lot of sandwiches because she would not eat some of the items on the weekly menu. She did not always get what was selected. Her breakfast items were good, and she enjoyed the coffee. They also offered a soup cart twice a week that she liked.
They did hire a new kitchen manager/supervisor the final week or so that my mom was there. She asked for my family's feedback on what can be done to improve the kitchen/menu. I typed out my feedback and asked the nurse to give her the envelope the day my mom was discharged.
Between my Uncle, sister and I - one of us was there at least once a day. One day my mother spent all day in bed. Another day, she spent 4+ hours in a wheelchair waiting for PT. She had a recliner in her room as well which would have been more comfortable to sit in. When I got there she was slumped over and exhausted sitting in the wheelchair. I talked to one of the therapists as I was not happy. They said they would get her out of bed each morning and ready for PT and utilize the recliner.
My sister and I expressed our concerns to the social worker a few times and nurse supervisor. I didn't know until the day she was discharged that they took her off one of her diabetes medications. No one told me this. She is now back on that medication. We did have a conference call from someone in administration and he apologized for my mom's poor care. After that call, her final week there was better. She was getting out of bed each day and getting stronger with PT.
The front desk staff was always friendly, and I appreciated the visitor check-in process and covid protocols (mask wearing). My mom had a few wonderful CNA's that took care of her. But, if those CNA's had the day off it was fill-in staff - especially on the weekends. Water's Edge seemed to be the best out of the two other places that had beds available. I wish my mom went elsewhere. I wanted to provide a detailed review because I read and rely on reviews.

The receptionist was friendly & very helpful getting us thru the screening process & made us feel welcome right from the get-go. It was heartwarming to enter the lock down ward as all the clients were clean, well-dressed and happily engaged in various activities. It'd been a while since my last visit so we broke down in tears at our joyful reunion! The staff on the floor helped get us set up in an area to ourselves & even got us a CD player so we could play some favorite music we brought for our friend. It was a holiday so it was busy but the staff handled it all professionally and so we had the best visit we ever had.
Our loved one was healthy, happy and safe and is well cared for. I highly recommend
