First time skier!! It was very easy to book with their online system, I had some questions and they answered them over the phone without wait. Fred was an amazing instructor!! He spent an hour and a half with me 1:1 teaching me and guiding me through three different beginner level slopes and then I was on my own for the rest of the day. I felt safe and confident after his lessons. Would definitely recommend this place to other first time skiers !

Karen, that runs the adaptive program at this ski resort, is a top notch Instructor. She will take care of you in every aspect that you need. Her crew are all highly trained in adaptive lessons.

Have to say it was better than expected. I think the key was that they groomed the trails for night skiing. Only downside there is that I had to wait a couple times while they finished.

A good small resort. They need to sort out the bunny run. People line up at the bottom of the run which is bad for learners because they can hit the people in the line. They need to file people away from this area. People already commented about this and they have ignored. Also lots of rowdy teenagers, particularly at the night ski. Steep terrain and fun slalom.

I recently had the pleasure of night skiing at Sun Ski, and it was truly an awesome experience. The skiing sessions ran from 6 to 10 pm on a Saturday evening, providing a unique and thrilling atmosphere under the night sky. One notable aspect was the manageable crowd, which enhanced the overall enjoyment of the experience.

Despite not opting for the training sessions, I appreciated that they were available for those interested, even if at an additional cost. This flexibility allows skiers to tailor their experience based on their skill level and preferences.

The cost of lift and rental, at around $80 per person, seemed reasonable given the enjoyable evening on the slopes. The variety of skiing levels and practice areas ensured that both beginners and more seasoned skiers could find suitable terrain to explore. The quality of the snow added to the enjoyment, creating favorable conditions for a memorable skiing adventure.

The standout feature, however, was the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Their gentle demeanor contributed to a positive atmosphere, making the overall experience even more enjoyable. Sun Ski clearly values customer satisfaction, as reflected in the professionalism and friendliness of their team.

In conclusion, my night skiing experience at Sun Ski was nothing short of wonderful. From the diverse skiing options and good snow conditions to the accommodating staff, it exceeded expectations. I would highly recommend Sun Ski to anyone seeking an enjoyable and well-rounded skiing experience

A local mountain with good trail options...for CT!

We recently took our 2 children to go skiing at Ski Sundown. We purchased two junior night passes, which cost $40 each for kids 14 and younger (6-10 PM).

This mountain was 1 hour and 15 minutes away from our house, but it was well worth it. They absolutely loved this mountain in comparison to the other two mountains in Connecticut. Both lifts were operational, and all trails were open. They liked the challenge and complexity of these trails much better than Southington or Powder Ridge.

There is a lounge area that you can stay in and grab some quick options for food. There is also a bar, but it does close fairly early. For instance, we went on a Sunday night and it was already closed by 9:00 even though the mountain stays open until 10:00. However, that is not a deterrent for us. We will be bringing our kids back here again as they did enjoy this mountain.

How am I gonna come here for the first time and get my brand new Ride Twinpig 2025 stolen after a night session and me and my buddy go inside to go get our bags come back out around 10:15pmish just to see his board got moved by staff and I’m assuming mine must go too which was next to his b4 hand, to just his board sitting in the front and mine no were to be seen, talked to staff had a repot filled out and nothing besides basically a tough luck! How you gonna have a ski resort and have people leave there thousands of dollar board on rickety ass wooden stands and then tell people you don’t got cameras to help protect their assets they bring to your mountain?! Why come here when you can go to any other mountain that would have cameras, no issues like this, like I’ve been boarding for 6 years and I’ve never had mine or my friends gear stolen before and countless of other mountains!!!!!

Do not book in advance. They offer no refunds. Weather this weekend is terrible, with an inch of rain and slush in the forecast. Instead of having a miserable experience with two small kids, they were asked to accommodate a reschedule to the following weekend. They refused, and are now keeping several hundred dollars for unused services. There will be no following weekend or any future visits. Hope it was worth it.
