Beautiful campus, very nice walking tour, and a great student tour guide made the short experience of visiting Yale create a desire to search out more of its beauty and history on your own afterwards.
Our small group asked a lot of questions and received some personal insight pertaining to the overall college life experience and expectations of many hopeful applicants.
Do prepare for whatever weather you may encounter. It gets cold and wet even in April so dress accordingly. A small backpack can help hold a bottle of water an extra layer of clothing, a jacket, sweater, hat, gloves and an umbrella conveniently.
If your hungry, directly across the park from the visitor's center on Elm St. (Where your tour begins) you will find plenty of good places to eat.

Go on the Tour. It's a great way to get an overview and lay of the land before venturing deeper. The architecture is something to behold. You could get lost in the rich history of this place. Our well spoken tour guide is a senior student of the undergrad program who knew much about the history of Yale. If you can't take a tour, visit the visitors center and walk through the history timeline.

Visitors center of the University of Yale. Next to the campus and in an old wooden house. Open most of the day, provides information and assistance to all visitors. They have a small exhibition about this university and also organise free tours. We took the 1:30pm one on a Sat and it was very informative. The girl doing the tour was a student and she was very informative and passionate. Tour takes you around the campus whilst you learn about the history of this institution. The campus is amazing and a delight to see. The U.S version of Oxford!

A nice attraction located in the center of the city that offers free Yale campus tours from college students. Definitely a great way to learn and tour the campus.

We saw many buildings on campus and learned a lot of cool history.

Definitely a must see while in town.

I lived near Yale my entire life and never took a drive to visit the campus until last weekend. The general guided tour was fun, insightful and definitely worth it. The tour took a little less than an hour. Be sure to wear your walking shoes since you’ll be walking and standing the whole time. I was blown away by the architecture (especially the library) and Yale’s history. We brought our 18 month child on the tour and I wish we brought our stroller. I would recommend taking a stroller with you for any small kiddos so you don’t have to carry them the whole time or chase them down.

The tour starts at the visitor center and ends near the campus bookstore. Parking is easy to find in front of the visitor center on the street. There are plenty of restaurants near where the tour ends so be sure to check that out and to grab a Yale shirt at the campus bookstore or the local store that sell Yale merchandise too.
