Captain Bill and first mate Harrison were exceptional tour guides for the marshland safari. Both were knowledgeable, with Captain Bill talking about the biology and types of birds we could anticipate and Harrison identifying the species of birds we saw along our travels. Beautiful day. Great friendly crew. I highly recommend this tour.

Travis Davis and his Salt Marsh Safari on The Skimmer is one of the best experiences going down in Cape May, NJ. If you're headed down there or in the area, definitely take the time to get on board and have an awesome time!

Me, my wife and in-laws took the Sunset Cruise back in July when we were there... you can take a few adult beverages, they serve up some charcuterie board snacks and it's a great few hours experience. Plus at that hour the tide was up and the setting sun makes the lighting and colors so awesome!

Travis and his crew are so fun and knowledgable and you can tell how much they love the salt marsh wildlife and everything about it! It's so awesome for kids tooI

We'll definitely come back again - its that good! Plus getting to hang with a high school buddy is always a blast!

this was a great way to spend two hours reasonable per person price. Very entertaining very educational very relaxing. I can’t say enough about this trip. The guides were hilarious and very knowledgeable. I strongly encourage you to go whether you have children or not it’s just a great experience.
Tip- take a jacket with you no matter what time of day you go or no matter how hot it is because it’s chilly out on the water.

Today we did the Salt Marsh Safari and had a fabulous time! We did the 1pm time slot out of their spot that is right next to The Lobster House.

There are bathrooms to use in the large building next door before you get on the boat.

Booking online was easy and gave good info. About what to expect for your excursion.

All three of the people that ran the excursion were wonderful. I’m terrible with names but the one name that I can’t forget is Salt Leg Sue! She was the expert on marine life and was great describing all of the wildlife that we got to see and even touch up close!

No matter where you sat on the boat, you had a good view of the sights and the animals that we caught (and also put back humanely) so we could see the local wildlife up close. You could move around freely where there wasn’t any waves from boat wakes.

There is a bathroom on board but you’re asked to only use it for emergencies and definitely NOT for #2s 😉

They sell snacks and drinks (water and soda) on board.

I had my 2 year old and 3 year old on the boat with us today. My 2 year old is very high energy, active, and loud 🙂 so having him on the bout for 2 hours was a bit of a stretch but we made it. My 3 year old was participating in helping reel in the wildlife, getting out when we docked on the marsh, and listening to the info about the wildlife so def great for kids!

Things they don’t tell you but you might want to consider:

You are in marsh lands so, there are definitely those pesky green head flys- and LOTS of them. My 3 year old has a thing with bugs so that was a bit rough so, just keep that in mind if you have a kiddo that has trouble with bugs.

If you’re going to get out when they dock on the marsh, wear shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty- it’s muddy out there.

Bring cash for snacks and tipping your staff!

We had a great time and will definitely be checking out the other excursions that they offer. Thanks so much for a great experience!

We went back for our second and third time, this time we took our grandchildren. What a great adventure this trip is for kids. Captain Travis was entertaining, all while teaching them
about the wildlife we were seeing.He even let them drive the boat. Bob and Karen were keeping us all engaged in what we were viewing, also while being very educational in a fun way. We saw so many types of birds, that are truly amazing to view in their natural habitat.
We will be back!

100% recommend if you are in the area! Travis and Harrison were amazing and knowledgeable and you can tell they really love what they do. Great way to learn about the birds and marine wildlife. Binoculars are provided and they let you touch some of the marine life too.

Honestly, this is one of the things we look most forward to when spending time in Cape May… We just completed our second tour and was just as good if not better than the first… It’s short so it’s great for young children and also they learn quite a bit And have a lot of fun with the guys giving the tour who are extremely knowledgeable (and entertaining) and you can tell they are experts in their fields because they are both teachers and very passionate about the local environment. Highly recommended activity if staying in Wildwood, Cape May, Villas, etc. Also byob!

I did this tour this past Monday, September 7th and I absolutely loved it. Captain Travis and the Naturalist Aidan were engaging and very knowledgeable about the birds and other species (i.e., turtles, shellfish, etc). They did an outstanding job keeping the boat clean and made sure everyone was comfortable. But, be forewarned that they do have a bathroom on board that looks rather small. They encourage everyone prior to stepping on board to visit the restroom at the other end of the marina. I highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in learning a little about the animals that live in the Wildwood/Cape May areas.
