Lived here for 2 years and it was an underwhelming experience, to say the least. Started off badly since they quoted us a lower price for rent which was incorrect. They did not honor the price they told us, even though it was their fault. Seems like they are going through staffing changes constantly, I'm always seeing new names pop up in the office (points to an issue with retention). Maintenance requests are VERY slow, for some reason they have 1-2 people maintaining all of the apartments. Last year, our washer was acting up and they kept trying to pin the blame on us, saying we were washing clothes that were "too heavy" or too many at once. After speaking to them at the office directly, they finally agreed to install a new drum. No issues after that, so clearly it was a mechanical issue that needed fixing, not how we were "incorrectly" using the washing machine. The machine also had twigs and dirt in it when we first used it, so they obviously didn't check that after the previous tenant moved out. They have some amenities, but the gym equipment is torn, smelly, and in need of replacing. The wifi in the gym never once worked for me over the 2 years I lived here. They also don't have proper AC in the gym during summer months. Things like this add up to make it not worth your while to live here. Rent increased by >10% our first year, Our apartment also had issues with water damage in the window sill and corners of the bathroom. We had a lot of bugs in the summer, despite several pest control visits. For some reason, there are also a lot of mosquitoes that pop up in September/ October. I would avoid living here if possible, the rent is too high to justify all these issues. Their email communications are annoying too. They had to email every time their coffee machine broke in the lobby, but wouldn't communicate important things like construction happening on the street.

I recently moved to Darley Green in Claymont, DE in February 2024. Due to a promotion I had to vacate in June since I was moving to another state. I officially vacated the premises on June 24th. The move out process has been terrible. I’m being charged for a stainless-steel fridge I did not damage while I was there for 4 months, and they are so completely unorganized they gave another tenant my personal information violating privacy. This past tenant, who is also disputing charges from the leasing office, sent me a certified letter to my new address requesting a refund for their charges. When I called to speak to a manager regarding the charges and my personal information being sent to a stranger, Kyle was not empathetic or cared that this happened. Her immediate response was to deflect and throw another department under the table. “Well accounting did that, so I need to talk to them”. I asked to speak to her manager, and she told me to go online and get the information. I asked for a name, and she refused to give me a name. I work with customers personal information everyday in my field, and I take it seriously if anything was leaked or given to someone else. Apparently, this company doesn’t think it’s a big deal they shared my information with a stranger. I would like a manager who can address my concerns to contact me.

Hello! I was thinking about renting from this company but the reviews says it all and thankfully for reviews to tell me.its a bad idea. But I inquired information to see if they would accept housing vouchers and she told me I had to make 4xs the rent..which is crazy..If thats the case I wouldn't be on the program and I wouldn't be renting, instead I would be buying..but I will keep looking

We’ve now had bugs in our apartment for months that were present when we moved in in September. We’ve been exterminated twice now and still have bugs and zero response from the office. On the day of move in, which was a transfer for us from a smaller apartment at Darley Green, no one could find the key to our new apartment. Mind you, it’s pouring rain and this move was planned around our baby’s nap to make things easier. No key. Okay? I was instructed by office staff to go to the new apartment to check if it was unlocked. Why that was my responsibility when I had already did my part and submitted my deposits—only God knows. I went and I checked because my kid had to sleep no matter how ridiculous the situation was. Not only was it open—the patio door was wide open and the floor was wet. While I was there, I called the office and let them know the situation. Of course, the response was oh we don’t know how that happened, glad it was open, we’ll have someone change the locks. Completely unprofessional. No one came to clean the floor or apologize. That was our job. There was also silverfish in the apartment that we would see here and there and kill as the weeks passed. We thought the issue was over in October once it got cooler and there were no more bugs. Wrong. Completely disgusted living here. Not only has the extermination not worked, we were charged 140$ to have the exterminator come in the first time outside of their 2 week schedule. These bugs are also in the hallway after two exterminations, which we sent Darley Green pictures of and they appear to not be addressing any other units on our floor as this issue gets worse. BUT they won’t let us out of our lease. The expectation is for residents to live with bugs and just deal with it, but those are not the terms of our contract. They have not acknowledged their part in there being bugs in here in the first place as this apartment was not properly secured before we moved in coupled with the fact that they let a leak continue in our apartment for five months, which definitely contributed to an environment for these bugs to thrive. These bugs have crawled out of outlets right before my eyes and landed on the sticky traps we’ve placed around the wall sockets.

We were also charged by Darley Green almost 1k for replacement of fridge doors that were scratched from the previous apartment. When I looked at images I had from the fridge when I moved in, the freezer door was already scratched up. My first attempt to fix this issue was met with “all deductions are final, there was damage” etc. I requested previous images of the fridge. Never got those. Once I was able to talk to the office manager after about a month, the freezer door charges were dropped but not the nearly 600 fridge door charge. I guess it makes sense to them that I was only given a partially scratched fridge and should be held fully responsible for prior damage to the fridge doors. Complete lack of integrity and utter bs. When I looked at the fridge of our new place, there were also scratches here that I insisted be documented. I then filmed a video of the general state of our apartment which was not in the “like new” condition they claimed to aim for future reference. I had rust in my kitchen, inches of dust on mirrors, window blinds and the air vents on the ceiling, chipped cabinetry, faulty shower faucet and an unbalanced toilet on top of a host of other problems I had to submit tickets for including our patio door not locking.

We had a roof leak above us from September to February, which resulted in a hole in the ceiling and water dripping into our apartment. Darley Green had this fixed mid February after multiple complaints.

I will finish updating this post when we move out as we have given our notice. We also opted not to have more chemicals sprayed around our child as we continue to have bug problems. We’ve been at Darley for three years give or take and the last eight months have been hell. I’m not sure if they advertise as high end apartments. This is not that if that’s what you’re looking for.

I finally got an apartment in the community and wanted to revisit my previous review as getting into a waitlist sometime may seem little confusing. If you deny an apartment that’s offered, you are again placed in the waitlist and even if you are at 8th or 10th position in the waitlist, there is a good chance of getting an apartment because many a people stay on the list just because they have paid of it. If you do get one that you like, then you have pretty much what you have seen on the day of the tour. Community is very well managed and I love the accessibility. Grocery is at walking distance and I just love it.

PLEASE READ before you plan to go: In Short - they put you in waitlist, then first offer a crapy unit which is neither listed in their website and nor do they tell you is under the management during tour. It's above the commercial units (like Subway on the Philedelphia pike when you enter the community). These units are smaller (1140 sq.ft 2br 2ba) and you never get your $300 + $50 per applicant fee back if you decline the crappy unit. And then you are back to the long waitlist or loose money.
