I have taken several train excursions in different cities but I am 100% sure this is one of the greatest trains I have ever taken. In terms of price, it is totally a steal! It is not a stretch to say it is the bang for the bucks! Not sure if anyone couldn't go along with my review. In general, you should pay around $ 40 or higher plus tax for other train excursions in other states. It is just for $18~ 20. There are lots of special event trains like autumn leaf special, Christmas special, Halloween trip, etc. You can buy ticket online or on site. But highly recommend to buy online ahead for special trains. Parking lot is available and even for free! All staffs are basically volunteers. Seems like every staff definitely enjoys serving and helping out all passengers! Super friendly and nice! Highly recommend!!

My family had a fantastic time this evening at the Wilmington Western Railroad Festival of Lights. The train was beautifully decorated inside and out. The ride was very engaging and relaxing with homes decorated for Christmas along the route. Highly recommend for all ages to enjoy.

This was so much fun. We rode the Santa train with our Grandsons 3 and 15 months. The 3 year old was in heaven. The younger one got a little restless in the end. Would absolutely do this again. Bring snacks.

We went on the Grandparents Day Special, where grandparents received a discounted admission price. Ordered and paid for tickets online, but can purchase day of, if available. There were 2 trips that day. We rode the 2:30 pm time.

The ride consisted of a half-hour narrated travel to a Picnic Grove where you had 20 minutes or so to enjoy a snack or lunch if you packed one. The brochure did suggest bringing food for your layover. The grove had many tables with a trash can provided, but no restroom facilities. The train did have a working toilet in each car. The picnic area was by a creek, but not access to the water. Those who did not get off the train traveled further down the tracks but came back to pick us picnic goers back up, and we rode back to the station being pushed backwards, but you could flip your seats. One family rented the caboose and had a child's birthday party trainride!

All the conductors wore period clothes and your tickets were punched on the train, just like back in the day. There was plenty of waving to vehicles, and the train passed through all the railroad crossings.

The remodeled station had many historic pictures, modern restrooms, a family restroom, and a gift shop.

This is an ALL VOLUNTEER non-profit, so all funds raised go back into the trains. Volunteer opportunities are available. Support local!

Leisurely scenic ride. Easy to park. Gift shop had drinks and a few snacks to take with you. Food truck outside as well. Ticket process was easy. Hard to believe the whole operation is run bt volunteers!

At the end of the car, we couldn't hear as well over the sounds of the train, so it would be great to have a speaker in the front and back.
