My family and I did the Hidden Waterfall Adventure guided hike this past week and had a wonderful experience — it was the highlight of our trip to Gatlinburg! Mike was an excellent guide; he was funny, informative, patient, and helpful. He made the overall experience very enjoyable. This was a moderate hike in terms of intensity (a bit challenging for beginners), but we had kids and older adults in our group and everyone managed well. I just recommend bringing the proper footwear (hiking shoes you don’t mind getting dirty with mud). If you’re not comfortable navigating the National park on your own without cell service, definitely look into this company!

We had a wonderful experience with our guide Luci. Luci was knowledgeable, engaging and really kind to my children. She taught them about bears, plants, the water in the streams and prepared a craft for them to do in the woods. My children adored her and I highly recommend a hike with Luci!

Fantastic experience! Our guide was Cade and he brought so much knowledge and education to us about the area. The pace was perfect and he was mindful of everyone in the group and went at a comfortable speed. We tried some edible plants along the way which was really interesting. The hike was a nice one for most hikers to feel comfortable doing without a lot of exertion especially considering the pace.
The area was beautiful and the company was very easy to work with on booking and had excellent communication throughout the process. I highly recommend Walking In The Woods for your next guided tour.

My guide was China who was extremely personable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the park and local history. I did not expect to learn so much about the natural flora and fauna as she stopped along the way to explain certain plants and insects/animals. She managed our small group of wanders well. Would definitely book another tour in the future.

We hiked Big Creek with guides Luci and China! They were so friendly and shared their knowledge of plants and animals along the trail. They introduced us to native plant life, and even showed us a Cherry Millipede and its cherry scent! 🍒 They had so much knowledge of the history of the park and it made our hike even more enjoyable. Would absolutely hike with them again!

If I could give Walk in the Woods 100 stars I would (no pun intended 😉 They were magical and provided an amazing experience in the Smokies. I was alone for a weekend excursion and did not feel safe walking around by myself especially knowing that their are little critters that live in the woods 🙂 So after researching some tour companies, I came across Walk in the Woods. They provided a range of options to experience but given that it was high season many of the packages were already sold out (book in advance folks 🙂 but! Because I'm a singleton, they were able to slot me into one to see the fall colors and I was beyond excited. Our tour guide, Samantha, took us not just to see the beautiful fall foliage but also to see an artists house in the woods, I felt like I got a two for one experience. Samantha did her due diligence to find the best trail to see the fall colors and she did not disappoint. I've never seen trees like this in my life: oranges, yellows, reds, and greens abound. I felt like we were on a grand adventure too since this little house is off the beaten path and you really need to know where you are going to find it. We headed off the trail and crossed a little wooden bridge to find the most Thomas Kinkade looking cabin (actually it was Mary Avent's) in the beautiful fall foliage. It was straight out of a painting. We had a light lunch there and then returned back the way that came. I loved this experience so much that I decided to book another and went with our tour guide, Dylan, to the hidden waterfall 🙂 again, the fall foliage was on point and we walked through acres and acres of it. The vistas were amazing and just to see the leaves falling at every turn is something I'll never forget. Dylan stopped at multiple places to give us information about the topography, or flora and fauna and was equally knowledgeable of the area as Samantha had been on the prior trip. Once we got it the waterfalls, we had a chance to rest for a little bit and take some pics and just feel the majesticness all around us. Our walk back was so much fun with a lot of stops along the way for pics and just making sure that we were not exerting ourselves too much. It was a beautiful day!

I'm so grateful to Samantha and Dylan for making my trip so very special and for all of the Walk in the Woods staff for providing these types of experiences for singletons like me so we can be with others to experience something special and have a safe time doing it 🙂 Thanks y'all!

We used A Walk in the Woods for shuttle support during a LeConte overnight trip. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, & helped plan our trip and make it happen! Without their help running shuttle we could not have completed the hike we wanted to do. Will be back!
