My parents made the transition here seamlessly and beautifully! The staff are super attentive and responsive. Activities are well organized and of great interest. Every time I call to check in on them, my parents are on their way out the door to meet with new friends to play cards or attend an outing. They are quite pleased with the food, I am relieved that they are eating healthily and regularly. The Summit offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. My parents love love love their new home!!!

My wife and I have lived well in The Summit in Hockessin for three months. Our move from our 58 year old home was made quickly. We do not regret the move. The Summit is our new home. The staff is more than competent and the residents are friendly. We have established new friendships - and re-established a few old friendships. Our apartment is comfortable, “homey” and clean. The food is delicious. Families are welcome to visit and eat with their loved ones.
Meaningful activities are plentiful. The tribute to Veterans on November 11 was over the top. I am participating in a very worthwhile in -house physical therapy program among other activities. My wife is participating in an exercise program. We are productively active.

This year I made a presentation to the residents and guest at the summit as part of a larger Veteran's Day program. The program was excellent from my fellow speakers to the live band! The residents were engaged and seemed to enjoy the day. I know I did. The best part of the day, besides the band, was being able to sit and enjoy a meal and fellowship with the residents, veterans and non-veterans alike. A truly special day with very special people!

I, along with all my students, have thoroughly enjoyed performing at the Summit Retirement Community. The beautiful decor and spacious environment create an inviting atmosphere for both residents and visitors.

A special thank you to Ms. Dallese, the Director of Entertainment, who was incredibly helpful in setting up the event and making sure it was a success. Her kindness and attention to detail made our experience seamless. We truly can’t thank her enough for her support!

Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we look forward to future performances at this exceptional community!

I was at The Summit for a celebration on Veterans Day that I was invited to by Lisa Romeo. I have to say I was not expecting such hospitality and a rewarding experience. From the employees to the residents, everyone was so warm and inviting. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! There was a band and several speakers uplifting all the veterans there, it was a very heartfelt, happy time for everyone. By the time I left it felt like I had gained a few new friends for sure! I applaud the Summit for their dedication to our Veterans and I can't thank them enough for a great event.

My Mom has now lived at the Summit for over a year in the Memory Care Unit. Although her memory is fading very quickly, she is stronger, healthier, well fed and more active. She loves the staff and I'm happy with the way she is cared for! The staff love her in a special way that makes everyone in my family believe she is in a good place. I grateful for the Summit and recommend it to people with a mom like mine.

The Summit has been a wonderful addition to the Hockessin community. The residents are always kind, and the staff is consistently cheerful and eager to help, which speaks volumes about how The Summit treats both its members and employees. The facility itself is pristine and state-of-the-art, providing an excellent environment for all who live and work there. Each resident receives a daily schedule of various activities to keep them engaged and active throughout the day.

I recently attended a Veterans Day ceremony at The Summit, which was open to family and friends. I was impressed by the turnout—well over 100 attendees—and the event itself, which featured inspiring speakers and a live band playing military tunes.

All in all, The Summit is a breath of fresh air in the retirement community industry. Thank you for all you do—A+ service!

My father in law was in an independent apartment for a few years, then fell and had to spend a week in the hospital. When he returned they wouldn’t allow him back in his apartment OR assisted living. They insisted that he HAD to be locked up in memory care unit. Would not even consider allowing him to be in assisted living. We took him to another facility where he did very well in assisted living for a full 18 MONTHS before he had to go to memory care. Then they cleaned out his apartment WHILE HIS RENT was PAID UP and wouldn’t let us in the apartment we had paid for. RUN from this place! They only care about your money and their own convenience!!!! It was a very horrible stressful experience for our family.
UPDATE in response to reply from owner- We DID speak to everyone there at the time. We DID NOT WANT to have to move him. But we were given absolutely no choice- they absolutely refused to allow him to transition from independent living to assisted living and INSISTED that he HAD to go into the locked memory care unit. He was lucid and well aware that his wife had died of Alzheimers in that unit- it would have DESTROYED him to send him there ALMOST 2 YEARS BEFORE HE NEEDED TO. As mentioned above- he did WELL in assisted living in another facility for OVER 18 MONTHS before he needed to be moved to memory care. I STAND BY MY ORIGINAL REVIEW. THE STAFF AT THE SUMMIT DID NOT CARE ABOUT HIS WELL BEING, JUST THEIR OWN CONVENIENCE (and perhaps money because it costs a lot more for a memory care room) The staff's inflexibility and indifference caused our family unbelievable stress and frustration and took a toll on my father in law's mental health, since we had to move him away from his friends.
