We spent 3 nights at the Hotel Blue and loved it. Free parking right outside and just a 5 minute walk from the pretty town’s cafes and restaurants. ||Our bedroom/sitting room with a balcony was huge, clean, comfortably furnished and quiet. The WiFi was excellent, as was the aircon, we had two TVs, a room safe, fridge and microwave. ||The bath/shower room with double hand basin was similarly spacious. ||It was five star hotel standard or better without the fripperies that we generally don’t use anyway.

My husband and I needed a getaway and Hotel Blue was perfect. We had been there 10 years ago and I had kept their card. We were so impressed with the customer friendly personalized service! Of course the rooms are well appointed and the artwork/decor fabulous. The thoughtfulness of all the “little” touches is also impressive. As my night vision has diminished over the years I initially wondered why with clearly so much attention to detail there was no night light in the bathroom only to laugh at myself when I saw the sinks glowing in the dark! The receptionists were welcoming and helpful beyond the pale. And we were enjoying the getaway so much we asked if we could extend it a day. Of course the hotel accommodated us requiring a small move down the hall. Staff moved our luggage!

Thank you Hotel Blue. We hope to see you sooner than 10 years!

Stayed here for a couple of nights in the off season. Its close enough to walk to the beach or across the bridge into the little downtown of Lewes but is just away from the busiest parts. The room was very large (we had a tower room) with a nice seating area with fireplace, a small wet bar, the bed in the rounded corner and a bathroom with double sinks. Everything was well kept and clean. Staff at the front desk was friendly. Since it was the off season the pool was closed (but it was mostly too cool for that anyway when we visited). All around great spot, would go back.

We planned a romantic getaway to Lewes, DE for an evening out without our kids. We found Hotel Blue online and thought that it looked like a very nice place to stay and a great location to go and shop in downtown Lewes. We found the room to be very nice with attractive decor. The price was very reasonable for the winter time. Everything was very clean, the bathroom very large and spacious. We hoped to have a pleasant night staying here. Unfortunately when we got onto the bed, the bed leg broke, causing the entire bed frame to collapse. We had to heave the mattress on the floor so we could sleep, which was not very comfortable. We reported the next morning, and all that management did was give us 10% back, which was about $20.00 and told that we should have called the after hours number to report the incident, which we did not know about. We wanted to give the hotel 5 stars but feel that we should have been given at least half back if not a free stay. We took photos when we first arrived in the room and noticed later that the post was broken already and had been taped to secure the leg of the bed. This should have been noticed before hand and fixed properly. Fortunately, we were not hurt from the bed collapse. This seemed like a trivial compensation for a business that prides itself in hospitality.

I have very mixed feelings about Hotel Blue. It’s where my partner and I stayed on our first ever couple trip years and years ago, and for that reason it holds a special place in my heart. However, unfortunately, my recent stay did not live up to the memory.

Five years ago, it felt luxurious and special. Not so much these days. Random large stain on the carpet outside of my room. Small Carpet stains inside the room and random little items not vacuumed up. Dead fish in the koi pond. Things that add up to take away from the experience.

It’s within walking distance of shops, which is really nice (I personally wouldn’t walk to the beach though-it’s just a hair too far). The front staff, or at least the gentleman we mostly dealt with, was very nice. We had issues finding a charger for our electric vehicle and he was very accommodating and helpful in trying to resolve a stressful situation for us, which we appreciated it.

A big issue we had though was the Wi-Fi. We stayed in a downstairs room where the Wi-Fi would NOT work past the bathroom/hallway. My husband had to take a brief work meeting in our bathroom because the Wi-Fi does not extend beyond that. (It was not user error, just a very very bad connection.) Not having reliable Wi-Fi was a huge inconvenience that affected our plans (example: to stream movies on an iPad in our room) and made it a pain just to Google local places.

My husband tried to tell the young woman at the front desk about the internet issue (after another young woman the night before restarted it after we asked about it, so it wasn’t the first time we brought it up) but she was very obviously uninterested and gave us a blank smile and wished us well on our way. Condescending and disappointing, because if you’re paying for luxury, you at least want internet - or for the employee you talk to to care that there’s a huge issue in one of their rooms. Again, the male at the front desk is excellent, but both young ladies have the kind of bored demeanor that’s better suited to retail where no one is expecting, or paying for, a “luxurious” stay. Small thing, because I don’t typically care as long as people aren’t downright rude, but again, it all adds up. If I’m telling you that a room has a Wi-Fi problem to the point that if it stay in it, you have to accept being offline for your vacation, at least pretend to care and lie to me and say you’re going to pass the info on. (This was not an issue with phones. We have both android and iPhone, and my husband works in tech. We know how Wi-Fi works.)

Random thoughts: The pool is kind of depressing. I know it’s natural water though so it may just be a matter of personal taste. The coffee maker is a fun touch and I like the local art showcased in the lobby. The bathrooms are spacious and the sinks beautiful (though one would not drain normally, another small inconvenience.)

Still. As much as it pains me to say, it looks like my partner and I are going to have to find a new special place to stay when we’re in Lewes.

Very nice hotel, in a quiet location. We had a studio suite, which was huge, as was the bathroom. We also had a balcony, although the weather prevented us from using it as much as we would have liked. Great coffee machine in reception. Friendly staff.
