My wife and I did the tour today when in town and it was so much fun. The tour guide, Jackie, was so nice and beyond knowledgeable about the town and buildings. The buildings were so beautiful and authentic. It was like stepping back into time. The town itself and so amazing.

We visited 2 homes and were given very informative tours. The houses were furnished and have an idea of what they would use.

A bike ride exploring one of the Delaware Greenways to Historic New Castle, founded by Dutch settlers in the 1650s along the Delaware river provides a step back into history. William Penn first set foot in Battery Park. An historic sign state “He proceeded to the fort and performed livery of seizin, he took the key, therefof,… we did deliver unto him 1 Turf with a twig upon it, a porringer with river water and soil, in part of all”. The gifts symbolized his proprietorship of Pennsylvania which at that time included the three lower counties that became the state of Delaware, “the first state”.

It's always fun to learn something new about Old New Castle! Great people work there with a knowledge of their collection, connection to their community, and attention to their audience. A Thursday evening lecture was well-attended... their Amstel Live presentations are even more fun at the Amstel House!

This is one of the oldest spots in the US. Nearby, William Penn and co landed. This is one of the earliest settlements in the Americas. It makes sense to explore and learn more about this chapter of history while you're there. Make sure to visit offices of the Historical Society and ask for some additional information and resources. You could also talk to them about organizing tours. They'll have some great stuff for you which you otherwise would not have gotten to learn about!

First time going to this place, and it's such a beautiful little quaint place to go! If you enough history as much as I do, this is a perfect place to go. With events all year round, even haunted if you're into that, this place is a great time even for the day!
