Very impressive displays for a lighthouse, and a nice gift shop as well with all the usual souvenirs, including magnets and shirts! The interpretive center opens 2 hours after the rest of the area, so I spent 2 hours around the lighthouse and then stopped here on my way out. Friendly folks inside as well.

I always enjoy stopping by
the visitor center to learn
about the history of the
lighthouse and the marine
life.

The center is small, but
has a number of great
exhibits.

The whale exhibit has a
number of different bones
on display and information
on migration routes.

You will find exhibits on
shorebirds, tidepools, and
the lighthouse.

The information on the
daily life and building of
the lighthouse is very
interesting.

A number of hiking trails
from the visitor center
will take you to different
parts of Yaquina Head
including a short one to
the lighthouse.

Located near Agate Beach
in the north part of Newport.

A fee is charged for admission
to the Yaquina Head
Natural Area.

A great place to stop and
see the tallest lighthouse
on the Oregon Coast with
a very informative visitor
center and a number of
hiking trails.
