In my opinion, some of these reviews may be for a different location. The room is clean and well-appointed, with furnishings that are not damaged or dated, as stated in some of the reviews. Additionally, the window treatments effectively block out light, unlike some other reviewers mentioned. While the hotel does have its share of minor issues, such as some general elements and minor wall and ceiling markings, nothing majorly problematic is evident.|The hotel boasts a charming lobby and rooms that are inviting, as evidenced by my photographs. The only complaint I have is that the room I stayed in felt slightly smaller than average, including the bathroom. I was assigned a double room that lacked a chair for sitting and only a chair at the desk. The bathroom was also quite small, but it was still functional.|Unfortunately, the room did not have a microwave, but it did have a refrigerator. The television provided ample entertainment options, including all of my preferred streaming services. Parking was plentiful, and breakfast was of high quality.|Overall, I find it difficult to understand the negative aspects of these reviews. Perhaps they are intended for a different Doubletree location nearby. However, I cannot comment on that specific matter. I would like to express my gratitude to Zach, the evening supervisor; Joanne, from the restaurant; and Peter, for their exceptional service. Additionally, the housekeeping staff was extremely friendly and attentive.|In my opinion, this hotel offers a superior experience compared to other establishments in the area, including the Hampton Inn in Chadds ford

Friendly staff and really good location. Fun town to walk through. Parking with the hotel is a little expensive for Delaware ($30), but way more convenient than moving the car every two hours from meter to meter. Nice executive lounge acne lobby area. Breakfast buffet is also a good spread for those who like an all you can eat start to the day.

Positive: Location Negative: The hotel was dirty. The room had food crumbs on the nightstand. The bed sheets had hair on them. The heat/ac did not work properly. It was 85 degrees in the room and had to put the AC on and it still did not cool it.

While not the worst Hilton experience I've had, it wasn't the best, either. But for a single night stay, it was fine.

Pros:
- Everything was very clean, which is exactly what I expect from a Hilton.
- The bartender was incredibly friendly and personable, and a joy to be around.
- Being personally handed the warm and gooey chocolate chip cookies upon check in was so much better than simply having them available in the lobby. Especially since the weather outside was cold. It made check in very inviting.
- The view of the sunset from the room was simply stunning.

The cons:
- The phone didn't work at all, which meant no room service and we had to actually go downstairs to get our drinks. Not horrible, just inconvenient since we were already in our pajamas.
- The wall thermostat didn't work, so we were unable to adjust the temp in the room all night.
- The small square feather pillows are hugely uncomfortable.
- There was apparently a soccer tournament going on, because it felt like there were preteen boys literally everywhere. Which would have been fine except for they kept messing around with the elevators, causing them to stop at every floor. Every time. While this is mostly an issue with their parents/chaperones, I do feel the hotel should have said something to stop it.

Overall, though, I enjoyed my one night stay here, and if I'm ever in Wilmington, DE again, I would stay here again.

The staff here were very kind and considerate throughout our stay. The receptionists especially were exceptional as they were kind enough to give the teens of our group extra cookies when asked. The only complaint I have is the broken elevator in the lobby! There was a housekeeper on nearly every floor trying desperately to get their cart into the only working elevator around 1-3 PM every afternoon. The elevator would be packed full of guests like sardines due to the large demand of people who needed to get to another floor.

This was NOT the general staff's fault, as they were very considerate and kind to us throughout our stay. However, the broken elevator was a major inconvenience and caused us to lug our luggage up four flights of stairs more than once.

There is NO POOL. They got rid of it, so if you see the picture of the pool be advised that they don't have one. Not a big deal, the desk offered us passes to the YMCA.

The hotel and room was clean but it looks like all updates were performed by a handyman instead of a contractor. Just little stupid things, bad paint jobs, bathroom hatch not properly secured, screws not driven all the way in kind of stuff. The hallway was like the inside of a broccoli cheddar hot pocket but the room was comfortable. They are also down 1 out of 2 elevators.

For the price and proximity I'd stay there again.

Have to update unfortunately. I thought this was one of the best Hiltons I have stayed at, and I’ve been to all but 3 states, and stayed at almost exclusively Hiltons (I’m a diamond member). Here are the reasons I gave:

1. The elevators were not super jolty
2. The rooms were so quiet! I love that there are hinged doors, that somehow, even though I wasn’t on the top floor, I couldn’t hear a peep above me (or beside me for that matter).
3. There were fold down shower chairs in the bathrooms, and the showers were WIDE and entirely roll-in-able for wheelchair access!!!! This is the BEST hotel I have ever stayed at for accessibility.
4. The breakfast was massive and tasty, well-stocked, fresh, and lots of healthy options. Also, while I wish it was fully included, it is only $2 more than my Hilton credit.
5. There is tons of parking
6. There is a LOT nearby (mall right next door and mile-after-mile of restaurants and things to do.
7. This is not right next to a train (like the ones downtown).
8. Very low scent in the room (I’m super reactive and I didn’t smell much in the towels or bedding. (I would ask for no or low scent options for hair care. I didn’t use the very scented shampoo and conditioner and soap).
9. Friendly and eager-to-help staff
10. Lots of open spaces in the foyer and such to sit and spend time.

Then I stayed another night (on my way back from a trip) in a normal room because all but one of the accessible rooms was taken, and the only one left was down a hallway with no heat in what felt like an abandoned corridor. I asked to be moved back to the main building, which I was. This stay was awful.

1. The bed frame is too big for the bed, so you hit your shins, knees, etc on it every time you walk by.

2. The housekeeper just lays the trash bags on the trash. She doesn’t actually put the bags in the bins. I’m sure this saves her time, but it’s super an annoying to go to chuck a tampon in the trash and realize you first have to get up and do her job.

3. When I was heading down in the elevator, we stopped on a floor with a housekeeper with a big rolling basket of laundry. I had a walker, and her basket would not fit between the people there and my walker, and she started pushing in, I said “I don’t think you will fit.” She pushed in such that I had to move my walker, and hold myself up by the railings on the ELavator instead (because I couldn’t kept it in front of me. It wouldn’t fit). WOW. I could not believe that level of rude.

4. There were stains on the rugs

5. I went back up after breakfast for a quick nap before completing my 13 hour drive home, and housekeeping knocked on my door at 9am to check if I was still here! Who does that?!

Now that I’m wide awake, and lost an hour of extra sleep, I guess I’m off. She also startled me awake so I hit my head. So rude! Housekeeping should be checking in at checkout time or when they know someone has checked out per the front desk. To go door-by-door to ask if people are still there (or, more likely, remind them they have an hour left), is tacky as hell.

The hotel offered 2,000 points for my troubles. It’s okay. I won’t be back.
