Jay was amazing and very knowledgeable. We were first time hikers and he took his time and we had plenty of breathers lol he brought snacks, bottled water and backpacks for us to use. He even gave us a bandana to cover our necks, offered hats, sunscreen. This man was prepared! He told us about restaurants around and stories and history of all of the mountains and plants. It was such an amazing first hike for us and we will definitely do it again!! Thank you Jay!!

We had a SPECTACULAR sunset hike with Jay at the Mohave Connector Trail! He shared lots of info about all the plants and constantly made sure that everyone in our group was keeping up. The sunsets were stunning! We will definitely be back!

Booking and meet-up was super easy. Guide (Michael Albrough) was responsive before and after the hike, including sending photos of our hike afterwards. Private hike was totally worth it, allowing me to go at my pace and choose our path at different points along the trail. Michael added a ton of details about the flora and fauna of the South Mountain Preserve, making the almost 4-hour hike educational, too, which was excellent. I would book with Mad Desert Hiking again. I would recommend Michael as a guide to others, as well, because he was prepared, flexible, and had a super attitude from start to finish.

Liz was so professional and knowledgeable and easy to talk with! She wisely re -routed our morning hike from what I booked due to wildfires in the area and let me know the night before. I stupidly forgot my water bottle in the Uber ( SO embarrassing !!) and she was so gracious about it and kind. I was curious about plants and animals and the geography and she was great in teaching me the basics of Sonoran Desert flora and fauna and everything ! It made the hike so enjoyable ! She is an invaluable asset to any company or team! Highly recommend Mad Desert and Liz.

We could not have asked for more. Our guide, Jay, was amazing. Our GPS kept sending me to the wrong meeting place. Jay drove back in town to meet me a lead us to the trailhead. He explained tge geology of the area and the history of the desert and mountain's formation. He identified the vegetation and gave explanations of how each of the various plants/bushes etc. were used by early settlers and Native American. We lucked out getting Jay as our guide. He was attentive to our needs and made sure we hydrated and did not overexert. If you are interested in an outdoor adventure, the guys at Mad Desert Trekking are a connection you should make.
