I went to Port D'Hiver for spring break. I had such a relaxing and peaceful vacation. I stayed four nights but would have loved to stay longer. The breakfasts are amazing. I loved every breakfast, and I can be a picky eater. The service is outstanding. The beach is just across the street, and they provide beach supplies for you if you need them. They also keep everything there exceptionally clean. My bed was very comfortable. I am planning to go back again next year.

This place was great all around. We opted for Charlotte’s Suite though I imagine all of the rooms are equally nice. There are many luxurious touches with which to be spoiled from the comfortable bed and fine sheets, nice shower/tub and quality toiletries, to the monster cookie waiting to be devoured. The grounds and courtyard are very welcoming and spacious. We didn’t use the small pool or hot tub but we did enjoy the fire pit. Breakfast was very good and a 50/50 option was available if you had trouble choosing between the two main entrees. My only complaint is that both mornings it could’ve been hotter. Evening reception was nice though don’t feel bad if you miss it. There are always cookies available in the main house and a snack room with chips/sweets/beverages. Staff were very friendly and always on hand if needed. I would definitely stay here again, I’m sure it’s a completely different vibe during the warmer months. It’s a nice walk on the stretch from the beach to the pier. It seems perfectly fit for a three night stay. We really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend.

What a wonderful little hotel! The whole place had a great old Florida vibe to it. Our room was very nice, the balcony had a great view. The bed and pillows were so comfortable, that’s always my problem with hotels, they’re never quite right for me.

What really made Port d’Hiver special though was the staff and the amenities. Everyone working there was great. The groundskeeper, I didn’t catch his name, was very friendly and does a fantastic job keeping the hotel beautiful. We passed on breakfast one morning and we got a text asking if we were going to be coming in. The beach chairs are high quality and in great shape. It’s the small details that make a place great. We always have to go to a store a get water when we stay in a hotel, the hotels always charge a fortune or the faucet water is bad. Here there is a little snack room with water, soda, small snacks, help yourself. My wife’s comment was ā€œit’s nice being treated like an adultā€.

Next time we’re back in Melbourne it’s where we’ll be staying, and recommending it to everyone.

A charming B&B, consisting of several buildings. My room – Walter’s Suite – in the main building was lovely and quite big. I had the ocean view, and it was only a few steps across the (quite busy) street to the beach. The street is maybe one of the very few disadvantages of this room, because there is a lot of traffic, especially in the morning, and, thus, quite a bit of noise. Walter’s Suite is nicely furnished and comfy, it has lots of windows and several doors leading to a surrounding balcony, which I shared with my neighbours. The bathroom is tiny, but sufficient for a day (and for one person). I liked the big poster bed, although it smelled a bit odd. Maybe the detergent? I am supersensitive to aromas of all kinds. The hotel team was very welcoming, when I arrived and also at breakfast time in the morning. Breakfast starts quite late (at 8 a.m.), and it was not necessarily my style, but that’s definitely a matter of taste. I prefer fresh fruit and maybe just cereals or bagels or toast and jam. However, at Port d’Hiver that day I could only choose between frittata with bacon and sausage (or banana pancake). I don’t eat meat, so they made me a giant omelette with lots of cheese and hashed browns with even more cheese, certainly delicious, but much too much and too fatty for me at that hour of the day. They offered juice and an excellent coffee, so I was happy, after all. And a bit of melon. I don’t want to complain. I guess, lots of people enjoy an abundant (Southern?) breakfast. I definitely liked the idea of the pantry, which is open to all guests, and has icecream and chips 24/24. The vibe all in all was nice, and in terms of services (hot tub, pool etc.) everything they offer corresponds to the description on their website. No disappointing surprises here. Lots of text messages before and during the stay also make sure that you know, what to do, what to not do, where to park, when to move in and out. A bit overprotecting and controlling, I feel, but probably well meant. Not sure, whether I’d stay longer than a few nights, because it is a quite pricey option. However, it’s been a nice option for a sleepover on my road trip up north, and I might be back at Port d’Hiver in Melbourne Beach, should the occasion arise.

We loved our room, the Mangrove. We also enjoyed the outdoor space; fire pit, hot tub and small pool. Breakfast was wonderful every morning. We enjoy the Melbourne area as well. We had 4 wonderful nights. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. All spaces were clean, beautiful and had everything you would need. Chairs for the beach are available too. The beach is right across Ed the street and beautiful!

This was our second stay at Port d’Hiver and it was as lovely as the first. The accommodations are very comfortable, the staff attentive. Breakfast delicious and varied, afternoon happy hour provides a great opportunity to meet other guests. Our room (Sunrise) had a patio with ocean view and also a courtyard view. The 2 pools were very clean and warm, towels and snacks readily available. The landscaping is gorgeous. There are a few very nice dining spots within walking distance. The mahi taco at Sand in the Beach across the street was very good. We were unexpectedly treated to viewing a missile launch our first night. Cape Canaveral is just 20 miles north. We look forward to returning for another pleasant, relaxing stay.
