I have used BluSky Adventures for our ground transportation for Philmont adventures since 2015. I have run 5 crews through BlueSky in 2015, 2017 & 2019 and all of our trips have been fantastic. We are also planning to use BluSky Adventures for our upcoming Philmont itinerary in 2021.

BlueSky takes care of all the arrangements, ground transportation, lodging, meals and provides exciting sightseeing activities from the moment we land at the airport until we arrive at Philmont. This alleviates a lot of stress on the part of the adult leaders and removes a lot of coordination the leaders would otherwise need to take on.

The activities our scouts have been able to take part in include Red Rocks Amphitheater near Denver, the Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, Manitou Springs, and whitewater rafting in the Colorado Springs area.

All of our prior crews have chosen Colorado itineraries, but our 2021 crew is leaning towards New Mexico itinerary.

The staff of BlueSky Adventures have always been very helpful and accommodating. The guides that they have provided have been very engaging and great ambassadors of the areas we were visiting.

I highly recommend BlueSky Adventures for Philmont travel arrangements.

Sincerely,

Starting in 2007 while I was the Lead Council Contingent Adviser for our crews heading to Philmont we have been using Blue Sky Adventures. I have personally used Blue Sky on 6 trips to Philmont. We have always had a great experience with their team and they make our initial touring easy and carefree. My other leaders and the Scouts that have made this trip have always had a great time.

Even if plans needed to be changed due to dry fire conditions and closures or active fires, Blue Sky had alternate plans in place for our crews. Our troop planned on attending this summer which would have been the 7th time I would be using Blue Sky. While Philmont was still debating if they would open, Blue Sky extended our final payment due date twice to accommodate our unit. Once Philmont closed for the summer, Blue Sky was able to return just about all of our money that we paid.

I would recommend Blue Sky for your trips to Philmont from Colorado and through Albuquerque, NM, I have done both. There is so much to see. Because I had been to most of the places they use on their base trips, they would customize each trip for me and my crew so that I would be able to see a few more attractions. We had some repeats as always, but one or two things would be changes so that it would be a new experience for me or other members of the crew if they were attending for another trip.

Your trips with Blue Sky will be fun, adventurous and planned for you so you can sit back and relax and enjoy your time with your Scouts as you explore together. You will be well rested prior to your arrival to God's Country, the Philmont Scout Ranch, for your high adventure trek because all the pre-trip planning and travel was handled by these professionals.

Always a good time.

I had heard of Blue Sky Adventures after a Scouting trip we took to the Northern Tier High Adventure Camp near Ely, MN in 2019. We took care of the trip as we had for all of our Scouting trips. It went well,, but after talking to other scouters, I looked into Blue Sky and decided to use them for our 2020 trip to Philmont. The COVID impact on the 2020 Philmont season is well known. Blue Sky set up a wonderful plan from Denver to Philmont and back. Although we never were able to experience this first hand as BSA cancelled the June trips in mid-May, we did get to experience the professionalism and teamwork of Blue Sky Adventures. They stood with us up to the last minute continuing to flex with the evolving decision-making protocol of BSA. They refunded our entire ground transportation portion of the trip even though we were within 5 weeks of starting our trek. In addition, our air fare was fully refunded through one of their recommended travel agents. Rob and his team kept us well-informed up to the end. It was easy for us to decide to go with Blue Sky Adventures again for 2021. We also plan on working with them in 2022. Blue Sky is a great wingman -- with us until mission complete.

We have used Blue Sky Adventures for several trips in the past 10 years. They have always been on time to pick us up at the airport and have provided an exceptional service. Even when we had to cancel our trip because of wildfires in Philmont (2018), they were very nice in offering a refund or credit towards another trip in the future or that same year. When the Troop looks at attending one of the high adventure bases, we always check out what Blue Sky has to offer. We haven't had a bad experience.

Just got off the phone with Rob and Blue Sky concerning our Philmont trip and it was one of the most non-committal and ended up most unprofessional experience I've ever had with a company.
My Scout as a rare form of Crohn's and is on a strict diet to control his flares. I simply started the conversation concerning what the Bag Lunch options are and what the outfitter dinner options were. The list of foods my scout cannot eat is extensive and the preservative sodium benzoate (which is in practically everything) make it difficult to explain so I simply wanted to confirm with him that if the bag lunch was for example ham that we had the option of Turkey for my scout. He continued to be totally non-committal on what the lunch would be, offered no help to try to confirm what it would be for our adventure. I explained to him that when I'm paying $1200 for his services I expect my scout to be able to eat the included food. His response was "Well what's he doing for Philmont" I replied we need to bring all our own food and he responded "well are they giving you a discount..."

I proceeded to tell him that is not an equal comparison because sodium benzoate is used in many of the food items Philmont provides to keep them shelf stable and that if we show up for our adventure and my scout had nothing to eat I'd have a real issue with that.

He responded by saying "well then I can't help you so you have a nice day" and hung up on me.... Really!

Should have saved the money and gone to CO early to Altitude acclimate on my own!

This company is NOT accommodative in any way for clients with medical concerns.

We used Blue Sky for our troop trips to Philmont in 2017 and 2019. Both times Blue Sky did an amazing job - they took care of everything. Our guides (Terrin & JayJay), drivers, and coordinators kept us on schedule the whole time and were super friendly and informative. We did 2 nights to allow us to 'acclimate' to the altitude (coming from Sea Level that was important). It's tough to compete with the wonders of Philmont, but the scouts talk as much about our 'pre-adventure' white water rafting and on Pike's Peak as they do about their time at Philmont. We will definately use them again when I return with my 3rd son.
