I picked this hotel because it was reasonably close to my destination and one of the very few offering smoking rooms.

This establishment offers both inside and outside entry rooms, some of which allow smoking in the rooms, most do not. My room was a king / smoking room.

The parking lot was old but clean. Exterior is definitely showing its age. Parking was ample.

Check-in was quick. They didn't require a deposit, instead requiring you to pay for the stay before receiving the key. Different from the national chains, but preferred by me.

The room was reasonably comfortable. King bed with a light blanket, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, large screen TV, desk w/chair, separate chair, charging ports in wall next to one side of the bed, outlet at desk for computer of coffee.

Floor was vinyl plank, showing a good amount of wear. Both chairs showed significant staining (bodily fluids?), The blanket on the bed had what appeared to be blood stains, making me suspect it had not been washed between stays. The sheets were bright white and crisp.

The bathroom was odd. The shower looked like a 2nd grade art project, wavy grout lines, tiles that appeared to have been cracked when installed, poorly done saw cuts, and an obvious mismatch between two lots of tile on the walls, making many look dirty, although it was an illusion caused by the darker color lot. There is no vanity, only a pedestal sink, leaving nowhere to put personal care items.

Another downside was a door that didn't close without a firm pull or shove. And to me, the most disturbing indicator of quality -- after walking in my bare feet for maybe 15 minutes, my soles were black from the layer of dirt on the floors. One picture shows the effect of wiping an 18 x 18 square of the floor with a damp washcloth.

Overall, a little attention to cleaning would have changed my rating to 5 stars. Clean the floors for Gods sake. Clean or re-appulster the chairs, and wash the blankets between guests.

The hotel had really good reviews which is why we chose it. My biggest concern is cleanliness and bug free. I don't care if the property is dated as long as it's clean. When we entered the room initially, that seemed to be the case. However, after being there for about an hour, I saw a cockroach. And then another and another and another. The room was infested with roaches. They seemed to be concentrated in the area where the entertainment center and TV were. My husband looked behind the entertainment center and it was full of garbage - food wrappers, kids toys, etc. I didn't want to pack everything up and move rooms or leave because by then it was getting late. I considered asking the owner for a can of Raid but didn't because I was afraid that would force them out and they would scatter everywhere. Later I started seeing them on the nightstand between the two beds. I was beyond disgusted. We kept every light in the room on all night long and the TV as well. I literally got NO sleep because I was too scared that one would crawl on me during the night. When we left, we hauled our belongings in the bed of our pick-up rather than inside the truck itself in case we were carrying any out with us. We left everything packed but with the bags open when we got home and bug bombed our house to prevent an infestation there.
The owners were very nice and when I told them about the roaches at checkout, they said they would have moved us if I had let them know the night before. The problem with that, besides it being so late, was that if the room we were in was infested, so were the other rooms.
I definitely would NOT stay there again. EVER.

This place is great. I got a clean room. They have a great channel selection on the TV for all ages. The staff has been nothing but friendly and asked me if everything was OK with my room. I have a mini fridge and microwave. All in all im happy with my stay here.

Although the exterior and accommodations are a little dated, everything inside was clean and tidy, including the room. The gentleman who signed me in was pleasant and offered assistance for any issues.
If you need a room that is simple but serviceable for a decent price, the Royal Inn is a good choice.

Recently have been informed that this address is showing as my social security number has been ran threw dark web on credit reports and alerts, as well that has ssn listed as current address. I have never lived out side north Carolina in 43 years living. When called the number and spoke with manager was told they do not ask for ssn as identification copies or confermation of anyone staying at hotel or any active reservatio. However, does offer wifi and makes this whole matter as someone staying there using wifi or at least has used my ssn and info ran threw dark web amd other notices and alerts on credit reports as hotels address sadly shows no room number. Anyone considering staying at this location be very aware and guard any personal and identy info. Friendly warning, welcome.

Booked a room (Google Maps $66) with Expedia (quoted at $199) for $299, for 8 April when I was fooled by Expedia's user-friendly interface into thinking that I was booking it on the date (the 7th) that came up. No room at the inn, but we were welcome to come back the night after the eclipse (when every hotel in town is half empty), since we already paid for the room. Why? Because eclipse. Highway robbery justifies outright robbery?

As children of God, we are encouraged to return good for evil, just as God makes his sun rise on the evil and the good. So I forgive them; nevertheless my bank, that honors even low-accounts like me, is disputing the charge.

But how to address the moral bankruptcy? What about Expedia, not only condoning, but profiting from it, by selling insurance that promises to protect you from such abuse (but probably doesn't)?

Divined by the ancient and noble culture that gave us the sacred gifts of the Upanishads, Sanskrit and Yoga, the Law of Karma promises that every act, just or unjust, is paid back, in kind, with compounded interest.
