I went here on a Wednesday at around 4, and it was not crowded. This place is absolutely beautiful!
It’s free for Illinois residents and you can bring a guest. Upon entering, they have rest rooms and a gift shop. The conservatory is very humid and warm, but they have a coat rack! There are tons of rooms and some cool scavenger hunts you can follow.
Everything was stunning and some rooms allowed you to interact with the plants (make sure you read the signs, though!!). This place is a hidden gem and I bet the outside area is gorgeous in the summer, but nothing was bloomed when I came.
Would definitely recommend for a ~2 hour trip!! Plus, it’s directly off the green line with some other sites nearby.

A very tranquil place to spend a few hours to see nature from all around the world. So dope to interact with some of the plant life and learn new facts from plants I've seen before. There are multiple areas to experience from tropical to desert it was worth the trip. I do recommend coming here it's free for Chicago residents but $10 for non-residents. 9.6.

Stunning! So many beautiful rooms filled edge to edge with well-manicured plants. It is a very good value compared to some of the other Chicago attractions. Plus it's not deep in downtown with a ton of traffic and expensive parking. The parking is free, or you can take the L train and walk a few hundred ft to the door.

By far one of Chicago's true gems. It's so much nicer than the one in Lincoln Park. This is one of the best conservatories I've visited, including Washington. The flowers show with the fragrance. It's a little crowded after noon. Definitely a weekday is a better time to visit.

The place is fantastic. The place is really clean, the workers are nice, the bathrooms are really clean, and the place itself has good looking things of nature. The flowers smell really good, the fish have a nice place of their own to swim, and the turtle wasn't that dangerous, was friendly too. Garfield Park may be a dangerous and horrible neighborhood, but this place. Oh my god. It's awesome! 😃

Amazing. We went for my husband's birthday, and it was gorgeous. They even had a room that was "fully fernished." If Ken tells that joke, he got it from me. But we were walking around, and Ken gave us the history of the conservatory and we absolutely loved all of the information he gave us. And every time we left one room and found another, we were shocked because there was so much to see. It took about 2 hours to get through, and that's with everything outside being dormant, because it was Mid-March and still cold..if outside were in bloom, we most likely would have taken another hour at least. But it was beautiful, and I highly recommend if you love all things flora.

LOVE LOVE LOVE, if you’re looking for something to do during the cold winter days this is perfect. They have a coat check right past the reception desk and the staff is very kind. So many species of plants and it is all well labeled so you know what you’re looking at. They have benches throughout so you can sit and read for a while or just hang out. If you’re bringing kids please don’t let them disrespect the plants growing,,,100% will be going back regularly. The plants in the gift shop are also pretty cheap, I picked up a spider plant for only $5

Highly recommended!
Wonderful getaway from the stresses of day to day, especially in the winter. Being surrounded by Palm Trees is the perfect remedy for a complete mindset adjustment.
