This business deserves zero stars and should probably not even be considered an actual reporting agency. Biased writing, writing not based in facts, and outright lies are what you will find within The Wayne County Press. I know it is a small community and there is not a lot of excitement but this paper has become one large gossip column at best. They have shown time and time again that their priority is to profit off of people’s hardships and tragedies. They should be ashamed of themselves.

My dad is dead from covid and I literally put my body in front of it.. The Press refused to cover my mask protest story (on 5/03/2020 I asked Walmart and City Police to respect IL gov Pritzker's Mask Executive Order and a cop invaded my vehicle in violation of the mandate). There were zero Wayne County residents dead from covid at the time of my protest. Current official dead is 85. I'm blocked from WCP Facebook page because I tried to share my story via their comments. This outfit tells only news convenient politically for those in power here.

There is no excuse for hate speech. Period. Whomever reviewed and approved Dale Hooper's article should be fired.

There is a huge difference between free speech, which Mr. Hooper has every right to, and publishing and endorsing someone else's hate speech. The later is exactly what the Wayne County Press has done.

This is an absolutely disgraceful failing on the part of this paper. If this is accepted and embraced then absolutely anyone should have a voice. In which case, I have more than a few choice words that I would love to publish in response to Mr. Hooper.

The apology should be as public, in the same location, printed and delivered to each home like the original hate speech. There should be some assurance of new structures to keep it from happening again.

Way to go Wayne County Press, thanks for showing the world what century you live in.

My sister passed away and I live in Arkansas and I wanted her obit. Called and they mailed me the paper paid over the phone. They have a great newspaper loved looking at it.
