Pickleball is a sport that seems imminent to master. That is the hook. For all but the most elite racket sport athletes it takes time, months or often years for someone to get to the top 5% of pickleball players and be 4.5+, if they end up getting there at all. We all have probably seen funny videos online of former professional athletes playing pickleball and not looking very good or coordinated on the court. It takes time and commitment to the sport to play at the 4.5 level. It took me probably close to 1000 hours of playing to get there. The 4.5+ night at Village Glen run by the court ambassadors there has been a great opportunity to test and hone my skills and I am grateful for it. This is from someone who most certainly did not start at anywhere near a 4.5 level and worked their way up. In the process, sometimes when I was 4.0+ but not quite at the 4.5 level yet I was told nicely that the 4.5+ session was full and because I played the game and knew how things were run, I was completely fine with it. The rating requirements are on the screen when you book it. They are meant for everyone’s benefit. If someone books something with terms they don’t understand then that isn’t a failing of Village Glen.

The male and female 4.5 open play pickleball ambassadors are some of the most professional and helpful staff I’ve encountered. They prioritize people's enjoyment and experience, but most importantly, they focus on safety. To ensure no one is at risk of injury, they match players according to skill level, which helps prevent accidents that could occur when playing against opponents who are too advanced. This approach also enhances the overall experience, as everyone is able to play with others at their skill level. I truly appreciate these safety measures. As an experienced tennis player, it took me months to reach the required level for this group, but when I was ready, the ambassadors were welcoming, warm, and inclusive. This thoughtful approach is why I’ve continued to return for nearly eight months!

Best place to play tennis and pickleball in WNY. Staff is extremely accommodating and helpful. Always welcoming.
To the person that gave the facility a poor review because of the coffee machine, first of all, it is not a cappuccino machine. It is a coffee machine and you can get a SHOT of espresso for $2. You did not get gypped.

Nice pickleball facility with friendly and competent front staff and ambassadors. Russ and Cristen are great. Good mix of players across different rated sessions. I have recommended it to friends and work collegues and they too have had positive experiences. May even enroll my kids to their tennis clinics. Well worth the drive compared to nearby venue.

I cannot say enough good things about Village Glenn-VG. The staff are wonderful. Cris Kessler is a phenomenal instructor. If you are looking to improve your pickleball skills and game (at whatever level newbie to 4.5+ and higher), please contact Cris. The drills and advice are second to none. In fact, after every lesson I see immediate results in league or open play. And I can tell that Cris watches us during open play and imparts that knowledge into her lessons. From top to bottom, the staff are welcoming and professional. The tournaments are exciting and very competitive. The atmosphere at VG creates a competitive yet fun environment where everyone gets along and enjoys the VG experience. I have brought over my friends from other places, and they all agree with my experiences here at VG. The ambassadors do a great job, the front desk staff, Russ, Cris etc. All keep up the excellent work.

Nick and Cris on Wednesday nights are the nicest and most professional court ambassadors and I have been playing here for 2+ years. Their goal is to keep everyone safe, and make sure that the level of play is on par with what the specified level of play is for that night. On Wednesday nights, the level of play is 4.5+, and you can expect a very high level of play on these nights. Do not come on Wednesday nights if you are a beginner or intermediate player. The level is high and you will get injured and also ruin everyone else’s experience as your level will not be up to par. It takes months to get to 4.5+ in pickleball no matter what it looks like.

Happy to report that I will not be returning to play pickleball ever again at Village Glen, you can keep my $13, I hope it helps you hire new employees so your customers do not have to experience what my friends and I experienced today. In hopes of having an enjoyable experience playing pickleball like I have before at Village Glenn, my friends and I (a group of D1 college athletes) signed up to join the open play Wednesday night from 7-10pm. When we arrived we were aggressively meet with a woman guarding the pickleball door, who upon learning we were not seasoned pickleball players began to degrade and belittle us for showing up, claiming that the people inside would "physical hurt us" because they would be mad if we played because we would be so terrible. If that is true, as a company are you truly okay with allowing your players to be in danger when they come to play? It seems outrageous to me that Village Glen would willingly be allowing violent people onto their premises. The worker, whom I am unsure what her name was, continued on to degrade Niagara Men's Tennis team and their abilities and additionally my own abilities as a collegiate athlete. I understand that this was a time set aside for higher level pickleball players but I would love to know why the degradation was necessary. Additionally why is your website set up that we were allowed to sign up, looking back on the website, it was not very clear that this would not be the place for us. Village Glen, you have lost a customer today who once enjoyed their time with you, if it was possible I would give you zero stars, but alas I cannot. I hope in the future you find a way to treat customers with a bit more respect.

I have been playing tennis at village Glen since roughly 2013. Throughout my time here, the staff and members have consistently exhibited warmth, hospitality, and a sense of camaraderie, making it like to a second home/family to me. I began playing pickleball last year, and despite being a 4.5-5.0 tennis player, I started pickleball around a 4.0 level. It took me roughly 2-3 months to elevate my skills to a higher level, ultimately enabling me to participate in the 4.5+ open play sessions on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. The male and female ambassadors overseeing these sessions display unwavering support, encouragement, and an exceptional level of professionalism.
Village Glen encourages pickleball players to participate at a level that aligns with their individual skills, as indicated by the displays above the pickleball courts. Village Glen is and has always been inclusive, welcoming players of all levels, from beginners to professionals. While it is extremely difficult to improve levels in a short period of time, the club fosters an environment where, even if you may not start out at a high pickleball level, you are able to improve your skills with the variety of clinics and open play levels throughout the week. While I have been a part of the tennis community here for much of my life, the strong sense of community has enabled me to cultivate similar relationships within the pickleball community, for which I am deeply thankful.
