I wish I could give this place 100 stars instead of just five! The rooms were comfy, cozy, and absolutely squeaky clean. The location is gorgeous. Most of all, the customer service and kindness that the owner radiates can compare to none. My husband, myself, and our two kids (an infant and kindergartner) were making a straight-through drive of 20 hours for him to report to Fort Riley in Kansas. Out of nowhere, the sky began to light up around us, the wind was crazy, rain was coming down in constant sheets, and hail the size of golf balls was falling from the sky. At the same time, my phone started alarming that the area was under tornado warning and a tornado with circulation was headed right to the area in the next twenty minutes. The closest place to stay was here, and when my husband called at 2 AM to see if they had rooms, the owner was so amazing and helpful. She asked if we were safe and how our family was doing, and provided us with so much care and extra help in navigating the area. She even gave us a discounted rate to ensure we stayed safe. When we got there, at an absurdly late hour, she still answered the phone and helped guide us to our cabin and provided us with all the info to check in sent to our phones so that our family could rush into the cabin to safety as quickly as possible. This place is truly one of a kind, with an owner that I wish every place I went to had the same level of wonderfulness. And I can’t reiterate enough how clean and cozy the rooms were, with snacks, games, a kitchen with all needed kitchen supplies, and so on. So much care and thoughtfulness has gone into these cabins. This place is second to none in the area, and truly sets the standards for what a business should be!!! Next time I hope to stay here under beautiful weather, because this will be the only place in the area we will ever stay!!

The cabin itself is beautiful and clean! It’s well-stocked and comfortable. It’s great for families with older kids.

The location…. I have mixed feelings. It’s right off the highway and railroad tracks. Because of this, there’s mobile internet and stores nearby. But it’s very, very loud, and the trucks and trains rattle the cabin at night. If you’re a deep sleeper, you’ll have no problem. But if you’re a light sleeper, you probably won’t sleep much on this trip. I also wouldn’t feel comfortable letting young kids and pets play outside because of the proximity to the highway.

We loved the family cottage! It was perfect for our needs and very well equipped. Having parking right next to the house was convenient too. Fern Clyffe Park was minutes away by car (there is a walking trail across the street) and a great place to explore. Great customer service and easy in/out. We were in the area for diving at Mermet Springs.

Very clean and stylish!
Check in is easy and super quick. The lady who helped me got me in as quickly as possible after the weather went bad during a camping trip, and was very very considerate.
No hidden fees. Honestly the best nightly rental Ive stayed in.

Oh and the bathrooms are beautiful!

The cabins are nice and the area very convenient. Karla was very helpful and gave us tips for dining and things to do in the area. Parking is a little tricky if you are disabled but we were able to pull up close to our unit to unload. It’s a nice location if you love the outdoors but want to also have a nice steak dinner in town for your anniversary that night. Recommending largely for the location and Karla.

Wonderful stay. The family cottage had everything we needed and more. We were in town for diving at Mermet Springs and the drive there was easy. Definitely check out Fern Clyffe Park too. Great customer service!

The cabins have been completely remodeled. New, very clean and modern! Very nice to have 2 full bathrooms and a full size kitchen. Nice outdoor furnished patio with a gas grill and fire pit.
The owner was very friendly and welcoming. She had left a nice basket of snacks and muffins plus coffee and tea. Southern hospitality all the way around.
There is so much to do in Shawnee and this lodge is in the heart of it all!
The cost is very reasonable for such a comfortable place that's close to the lake and wine trails .
I highly recommend this place and I will definitely stay here again.

Stayed here on a fall break trip. The cabin had a warm and cozy atmosphere, really comfortable beds, and it was overall a great place to stay! The owner was also very nice and welcoming! Would definitely recommend staying here if you plan on visiting Southern Illinois 🙂
