When checking into a hotel, you expect basic amenities to function properly. At this Hilton, the heat in our room didn't work, despite maintenance's attempts to fix it. Since we had booked two rooms and spent little time in that particular room, it wasn't a major issue. However, when I returned to the room to sleep and tried to flush the toilet, it wouldn't budge. Assuming the water might be off, I made the mistake of turning on the water valve. The toilet promptly began flooding the floor. I had to grab towels to clean up the mess myself—a task that shouldn't be part of a hotel stay. I didn't call maintenance because my kids were sleeping, and frankly, I shouldn't have to deal with such maintenance issues in the first place.||What's even more infuriating is the lack of urgency from the hotel staff. I spoke with the manager, who promised to call me back within 24 hours. Unbelievable. When I contacted customer support, they told me to call back in three hours. I asked the customer feedback department if they thought it was reasonable for me to have to call back, rather than them following up. Their response? I should be the one calling back. This experience has left a sour taste, especially considering Hilton's reputation. It seems that reputation isn't consistent across all locations.

So this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had in a bit. The event they had booked was so crowded you could barely get to your room and it was so loud you could hear it pulsing through the walls. But was excited to see we were right by the pool then was crushed to find out how extremely cold the water was. We had even asked if it was a heated indoor pool before booking but the water had to be 50 degrees. We just went back to the room and watched some tv. At about 9 the power went out and took a while to come back on. When it did come back on the tv wouldn’t work and the lights wouldn’t work properly and still didn’t when we finally got out of there. No microwave. One of us even gave up trying to be comfortable and went back to the truck to sleep. The bed made me hurt and the toilet clogged right when the lights started to freak out again and they didn’t send anyone one to help and we didn’t get more towels when we needed either. Also since it was our first time going they gave us a “free breakfast” which I was excited about. There was no bacon left and no biscuits and gravy. At the end they still tried to charge us $18 a person. We couldn’t get checked out fast enough which was a disappointment because I had high hopes for that hotel brand.

Sliding glass door was filthy and took an inordinate amount of force to open. Room coffee maker did not work. Pool was under construction and they just haphazardly threw all the pool chairs into the courtyard outside. Hotel restaurant was ok, but very obviously understaffed I felt bad for the single waitress working the bar and waiting on all the tables. I definitely would not pay more than $100 a night for this place, they’re obviously cutting as much as expenses as possible to squeeze every nickel and dime out of this place.

Room 114 was decent but upon arrival to the room I noticed a huge stain on the wall next to the bed. I really don’t know how the cleaning staff could have missed it if they were making the bed. See the picture. Seemed to be ketchup or BBQ sauce (I hope). I probably should have called the front desk but took one of my Clorox wipes and cleaned the wall. After that it made me wonder how well the rest of the room was cleaned.

The Wood Dale DoubleTree IS nice but they NEED to upgrade the TVs in the rooms to Smart TVs without the "Fisher Price" remote controls. The South exit door needs to be fixed because it slams very hard when it closes. The staff was very pleasant.

This is an older Double Tree hotel, and is due for renovation. The room was comfortable and clean. Only complaint was the heat thermostat did not keep room at a constant temperature. It was winter and the air conditioning kept coming on.
Front desk staff ( Laryssa) was very helpful and accommodating to my needs.
She addressed the issue that there was no decaf coffee available.

Everything was nice about this hotel, they offer a free cookie upon check in but it had peanuts so I couldn’t get one because I have a nut allergy, we had a small issue with check in but was able to get it straightened out, the hallway carpet could use a good shampoo and vacuum, the room was clean, plenty of towels and pillows, only downside of the room was the lighting could be a little brighter, not enough lighting and it seemed kinda dark.The bed was a little more firm to my liking, but I was able to get a good nights rest. Also the walls are thin, so I could literally hear the people next door to me and their loud music late at night WHICH when I went down to the front desk, they got on it right away. The breakfast was sub par for $15 a person, the sausage was not cooked thoroughly and the eggs were runny and the coffee was warm and not hot. I do like that they have free parking. Plenty of gas stations nearby, but it is a little drive to everything downtown Chicago, but we didn’t mind. I would have no problem coming back in the future as a backup plan.

Decent Stay, but Some Drawbacks

As a travel agent, I’d somewhat recommend staying here, depending on your needs. The location is super convenient if you need to be close to the airport, but it’s a bit out of the way if you’re planning to explore the city.

When I first walked into my room, I was disappointed to see that the bed wasn’t super clean. There were some pretty obvious stains, which didn’t leave a great first impression. On top of that, the public restroom sink wasn’t working, so I had to walk all the way back to my room just to wash my hands.

On a positive note, they did offer a free cookie when I checked in, which was a nice touch. However, beyond that small gesture, I’d say this place is pretty average overall.
