Zion Outfitter equipped us with all the necessary gear for a successful hike with my 9-year-old son. Our adventure was amazing, and we stayed warm and dry throughout the entire trek through the Narrows.

I highly recommend zion outfitters for neoprene socks and water shoes if you plan on doing the narrows hike.

I thought my regular hiking boots would do it, but as I did my research, I realized this is a flowing river and it is 58°. So having a good pair of water shoes, might I say water boots is definitely the way to go? They also give you a free heavyweight. Walking, stick to help you. Balance through the river.

Staff was very friendly, accommodating and even gave us some friendly tips.

They allow you to rent the boots. The day before your hike so you can get out on the river early morning. I have to say that is a great touch. Because having to go here before the hike would have been quite the task. Rent your boots the day before. Boot up and get out on the river before sun up, enjoy.

We got there fairly early, around 8am, parked in the Visitor Center parking lot, walked out of the park entrance and went across the convenient bridge and right there was Zion Outfitters. They even had a window / booth outside waiting for the Narrows hikers. We got our stylish red shoes, socks and walking stick and off we went. We walked back in to the park, hopped on a shuttle for the ride up to the Narrows - we made a stop at the Main Lodge for a quick breakfast - and then hopped on another shuttle to the Narrows Trailhead. We felt more confident with the right supplies from Zion Outfitter. My wife is 70 years old. She made it - you can too!!!

Location is great, the place is well staffed, very nice people and everything is organized.

The issue I have is this: They told us the dry suit/boots for the Narrows would keep our feet somewhat warm, not dry, but not freezing, and that their equip would make the Narrows doable in January…

We took their word for it and followed their instructions, we went early morning on Jan 10th to get a parking space before 9AM. I hate to burst your bubble, our feet FROZE, it felt dangerous being out there. I was worried about frost bite, it felt like bad nerve pain and numbness. We had to turn back way before our desired destination (which they recommended). There was no way we could’ve made it safely.

I’m ok with cold, I like doing ice baths. I’m fine with challenging experiences, doing Zion in Winter is cold and challenging. We hadn’t even planned to do the Narrows until we saw their ad out front… It just doesn’t sit well with me to be lied to, even if that is just omission of a truth, a very important detail that would have prepared us.

If you do this, be prepare for numb, painful feet and bring ways to warm/protect yourself.

I think it is their responsibility to at least tell people what to expect or how to do this safely. I would have planned and prepared differently if they had at least been honest.

Nice store hidden away in the shops outside of Zion. They have clothes, drinks and a variety of items like souvenirs, trinkets as well. If you need gear prior to entering the park you can pick those smaller items up at this place too! For anything else you may check out the nearby rental shops.

Pro tip: wire mesa has a lot of cactuses right off the trail. Be prepared.

I wasn’t. I developed a small hole in my front tire. The fun was over. Off-season, late afternoon, stores closed, no fix it supplies. I made my last stop at ZO hoping for a fix. Kent saved my day! Free of charge, he fixed my bike tire within minutes, which allowed to ride till sundown. It made my day. Thank you Kent!

If you’re visiting Zion National Park, renting an e-bike from Zion Outfitters is a must! The bikes are smooth, comfortable, and perfect for exploring Zion's diverse terrain, especially with the electric assist that makes uphill trails a breeze. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and Ken really made my experience stand out. He took the time to ensure I was comfortable with the bike and gave great advice on the best routes to explore the park. His enthusiasm and attention to detail made the experience even better. Zion Outfitters exceeded all our expectations with their exceptional service and attention to detail. Their staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the requirements for the Narrows hike and made sure we were fully prepared. They were also extremely accommodating of our specific requests, which made the entire process seamless.

The gear we rented for the Narrows was top-notch and made all the difference. It was super cold when we went, but the equipment kept us as warm as possible, allowing us to fully enjoy the experience without any discomfort. Their preparation and quality gear ensured we were ready for one of the most memorable hikes of our lives.

In addition to the hiking gear, we also rented e-bikes to explore the park. Biking through Zion was such a fun experience! While one of the bikes ran out of charge towards the end of the day, it didn’t take away from how much we enjoyed the ride.

Overall, Zion Outfitters provided everything we needed for a fantastic adventure in Zion National Park. Highly recommend them to anyone looking to gear up for the Narrows or explore the park in comfort and style!
