Absolutely a terrible experience. If Krista Getz would return our emails and cancel our trip that would be appreciated. This is as far as I am taking this for now. I placed a call to Vickie Everhart (chief experience officer) and am awaiting a phone call. Our emails were read (read receipt) two days ago but no return response. This is absolutely crazy and unacceptable. I look forward to someone responding to me today.

It was to be my "trip of a lifetime." I didn't want to leave anything to chance because my family would be traveling with me. That's why I decided to book the trip through Krouse Travel.

We chose a departure date and I paid the down payment. One more step for security: I bought travel insurance. Krouse sold me a "cancel for any reason" policy through TripMate.

We were set to go and the world-wide pandemic struck. My agent said I could extend the date of the trip to the end of the year without losing any money. This was 2020 and I agreed. Delta was added to the mix in 2021, and again I was told I could extend the date without loss of money. When Omicron hit in early 2022, we decided to cancel the trip.

I requested reimbursement from TripMate who, after five months and numerous requests for more documentation, sent written confirmation that my request was denied. I lost nearly $5,000 and all my agent said was, "I'm sorry."

I will never book another trip through Krouse Travel because of the inferior insurance policy they sold me. TripMate has extremely unsatisfactory ratings online, which I found out too late.

Update

After reading my online review, the owner of Krouse Travel contacted me. She apologized for the bad experience I had with TripMate, the travel insurance company that denied my claim for reimbursement. She said she wanted "to make this right" and offered to reimburse me for my losses.

During our several conversations via email, I found her to be understanding and reasonable as well as eager to show how important customer satisfaction is to her and her company. A check was mailed to me.

Because she showed genuine interest in my situation, I will not hesitate to book future trips through Krouse Travel. She did mention that TripMate is not an insurance company they typically use and I strongly discourage buying one of their policies.
