There were 7 (7!) Clarks Ferry Bridges- zoom in on the picture but essentially -there even used to be a Clark’s ferry license plate that served as a primitive form of ez pass so drivers wouldn’t have to stop every time they crossed.

Great views, but the ferry boat campground is the best ! Put your car truck or motorcycle and cross the Susquehanna.

At this point the Susquehanna river is quite wide. It's wide enough that you wouldn't want to swim across it, and deep enough that driving across it would be impractical even if you've got one of those lifted off-road vehicles. James Bond could get across in his amphibious doodads but for the rest of us the river is just an impassable obstacle. If only there was some way to get across it.

Well, I'm very pleased to say that there is. Someone who knows a lot more about engineering than I do had the same problem and built a road over a series of platforms, that crosses the river. Not only that but they were kind enough to make it big enough that lots of people can use it at the same time. So worry no more, when you get to the edge of the river you too can just drive right over and get to the other side.

The views as you drive over are pretty good too. Just don't forget to look at the road once in a while if you're the one behind the wheel 🙂

A bridge is a fine way to go from one point to another over some kind of obstacle. If you want to go from one point to another under some kind of obstacle, you'd need to utilize an underpass or perhaps a tunnel. With that out of the way, this particular bridge is fairly standard, and it's a decent enough method of crossing the Susquehanna River if you happen to be traveling that particular route. One thing is for sure: it's a bridge, and not a tunnel or underpass.
