My friend and I stayed at the Doyle Hotel in mid-December. Unfortunately, the block the hotel is located on lost power during our stay, which was out of their control.

We have to give a huge shoutout to the owners and staff member Tim, who were incredibly accommodating. They brought us extra blankets, moved us to an alternate room with a wall-mounted gas heater, and as it started to get dark, they even brought us a candle!

Luckily, the power was restored before the restaurant/bar opened for dinner! Our meal at the downstairs restaurant was fantastic. We enjoyed fresh-cut French fries, a delicious salad topped with steak!

After dinner, we had the pleasure of watching Shea Quinn perform in the upstairs room/bar. It was fascinating to see the hotel transition from a quiet, power-less building to a lively space filled with people enjoying dinner and the show.

We highly recommend staying at the Doyle Hotel. It has the charm of a vintage boarding house, and the woodwork and architecture are truly remarkable. If you love antiques and a nostalgic atmosphere, this is the place for you. I can also see how it would be appealing to Appalachian Trail hikers.

Amazing place really. Food was unbelievably delicious and the bartender/server was really friendly. Genuinely one of the best places I've eaten at. Also got a free candle from the server. If your In duncannon and want a place to eat or drink this is the place for you.

We stopped in on a Sunday early evening for live music and had a couple drinks, no food. The building is historic which makes this a really cool spot. There was a banquet room and bar on the second floor with a wraparound balcony that was accessible. The upstairs was closed for service at the time we visited. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed. The bartender was personable and attentive. They did just also open a coffee shop with limited hours and I will be back to check that out. Nice stop for beverage or quick bite to eat if you are hiking Hawk Rock or the AT and a place to sleep if you need.

Spent the night Friday. Enjoyed music and the general atmosphere of this place. I am a hiker/ultra marathoner so I really enjoyed the feel of the town/hotel. Definitely go for an experience. Well worth it! Also hike the AT while you are there!

Perry County Brew Guys Black IPA and fresh cut homemade fries, a perfect pairing. Love the continued improvements to the historic building.

This grand old lady was originally built by Adolphus Busch partially as an icehouse to assist shipping his STL products across country. There are several rooms on the second and third floors - no elevators, and many of the rooms share a bath (you can book your rooms online and look for the amenities that you might want, like your own bathroom, etc.).

This place has a restaurant and full bar. There is a second bar upstairs that they open when very busy or for events. It also has a lovely veranda that allows for some great people watching and just hanging out. We enjoyed the food - I went with the chicken and rice, an amazing dish with seared chicken and peppers in a brown rice base - it was amazing.

This place has a storied history with the AT hiker crowd, evidence of which is the multiple maps throughout the hotel of the trail. This is a family run affair and is decidedly local - this was a great stay and a great meal.

Best Reuben! It is hard to find someone who knows how to properly make one - grilled to perfection & no gristle. The fries were also exceptional - hand cut boardwalk style. Great with vinegar and salt. Fresh brewed ice tea. Many other interesting things on the menu too. Appalachian trail goes by this venerable establishment which resides in one of the oldest buildings in downtown Duncannon. Check out the trail map inlaid into the bar. Street parking.

The place is original, and the owners care to make it an experience. We came off the Appalachian Trail after only an overnight stay at a shelter to the south, and it was pleasant to know this hotel cater to us hikers. The owner talked to us, showed us pictures, and the waitress took our order without writing it down.
