I keep coming back every year..love it so much..mini is my favorite but all the cabins are beautiful and well maintained..bonus the knotty pines restaurant lounge a walk away..so if ya like to drink....you can stumble over for eats 😄 and more drinks!!

Cabin #4

Day 1

First of all don’t try to come even 5 mins early for check in the lady refused to give me the key until 4:00 on the dot.
The steps leading up to the cabin are rocks which was kinda cute looking at them. But using them isn’t for everyone. My husband has a bad back he walked up the hill around them because if he fell it would have sent him to the hospital. All of the other cabins here have decent steps and flat seating outside. Cabin 4 is not for everyone.
The ad said a queen bed and it is definitely not! It’s like a super single. Sure wish they woulda told me.
There are No fans and the cabin was closed up, hot as hell. Again if they would have told me I would have brought a fan.
The window handle broken so opening a window was a chore.
The cabinet drawer has a piece of wire for a handle.
The pictures online show the nicest cabins so it’s a big CAT FISH!
The supposedly emergency phone they have here doesn’t work so there’s no phone service if something happens.
My husband has a bad back and we didn’t know the outside seating area is very unlevel.
The steps up to the cabin are kinda tricky for someone with physical mobility issues.
There is a step bank in which you could fall down and get hurt a couple feet away from the fire pit.

Day 2
Woke up after getting very lil sleep. Sharing a super single bed with my husband was like sleeping in a a tent for 1 person.
The corner of the bed smelled like pee.
There’s no door on the bedroom either.
So you gotta get changed in a bathroom the size of a porta John.
I don’t know about the other cabins but there was zero air flow and of course no fans to help move the air. It was very hot and stuffy.
The couch was supposed to pull out into a bed/sleeper sofa but that was another loss in this sad experience.
My daughter sleep on the couch and they have no other blankets or pillows.
They gave us one thin small blanket, one pillow case and one flat sheet.
Uh 🙄 there’s 2 pillows, and the flat sheet is for what ? To cover the bed or between us and the tiny blanket?
The road is really noisy and pretty busy even at nite.
Anyhow
I sat and drank my coffee and planned on a shower.
Not surprisingly the water stayed cold the whole time and the shower angle was pointed so high and to the wall i couldn’t get my butt wet and wash well. I had to cup my hands to collect water and splash on my private parts to get semi clean.
So at this point im completely upset at the almost $500 I spent for a July 4th relaxing adventure.
I bought a 3 nite stay at this cabin and one nite was more then enough to prove to me this place is sub-par for $125 a nite. Plus $15 for my lil dog and taxes So closer to $150 a nite !!!! I coulda got a jacuzzi and free breakfast at a hotel for this!
No way …what a rip.
Do not rent cabin #4 unless you live on the streets and someone else pays for you to have place to stay with a roof and walls

After trying to tell the owner about the situation he told me it was my fault for not immediately going to the office. Which I stay July 4th 2024 to the morning of July 5th 2024. We tried to stay and hack it out but everyone had enough. So instead of trying to get to make things right he argued with me and said it was my fault.

BE Warned!!!! These ppl do not care.

The “Mini” is beautiful and intimate, away from the other cabins. Feels like it’s brand new. (The photos at the website are very accurate). I want the interior wood in my house! Very well stocked kitchen area, full size appliances; bed, bathroom and kitchen are immaculate. Bed very comfy. Nice and bright place, excellent heater/air conditioner unit. Newer windows, loved the blinds. It’s cozy and just fine for 2 people. We went at the end of April for a week and again for 4 days at the end of May. We’ve booked a week in October. At $515 (+tax) weekly you can’t beat it, and our two cats are welcome. 🙂 ((There’s also a covered porch on it now.)). Wi-Fi and LTE are *very* spotty so we drove into Leeper daily to check for any urgent messages. It was kind of nice to be off the grid but hard to get used to. The neighboring cabin was noisy late into one night but tolerable considering the pluses for the rest of our stay. We’ve definitely found our annual getaway spot, and I’m certain we’ll visit more often.

Edit: the kitchen table *will* fall over if you lean on it just the wrong way.

We stayed in Cabin #2. It was very clean, wonderful hot shower. Queen size bed. Stove, refrigerator spotless. Beautiful cabin with nice large porch (in case of rain). Reasonable price per week. I love this place.

My fiancé and I stayed in the "mini" cabin for a week with out two dogs. This cabin is a PERFECT getaway! Beautiful environment. Very clean and quiet. We will definitely be back and highly suggest if you want a quiet, peaceful place to get away from city life, come to whispering Oaks and rent the "mini"

This was my husband and I’s third time visiting cooks forest and our first time staying at whispering oaks. We stayed in cabin #2. We stayed from a Sunday-Wednesday so it was very quiet and not too many other guests coming in and out. The cabin was clean and cozy. Close to the river and everything else cooks forest has to offer. The only thing for improvement that I can think of is the bed wasn’t too comfortable.

But overall my husband and I were pleased with our stay and would come back!
