Staci is the most dishonest, unreasonable and unprofessional host I have ever worked with.
Her property was pretty disappointing compared to the deceiving photos on the listing. It was very janky and definitely needs updates. Cheaply done, which is not reflected in the rates of the place.
Most importantly, the doorknob was dysfunctional to the bedroom our 2 year old was staying in, which left him unsafely trapped and scared in the bedroom the first morning we woke up. We tried unlocking the door from the outside with a penny, which was not working. Of course it worked as expected on the other two doors in the house. After unsuccessfully being able to reach Staci, and our son getting even more frightened, we pulled the knob through the door. We later found that the inside lock was also dysfunctional - either direction the lock was turned, the knob remained locked. See videos below.
Staci’s response was quite shocking. No apology, no asking if our son was ok. Just right into how this falls outside of an accident and we didn’t give her reasonable time to respond, so we will need to pay her. I don’t know any other human who would argue reasonable time when a scared 2 year old is trapped in a room, especially an unfamiliar one. That’s pretty disgusting. When I asked if she watched the videos of her unsafe and non working doorknob, she would disregard the question. I asked her to call me to discuss the situation like two normal human beings should be able to do. She refused, as I’m sure she would not be able to explain herself when posed the question about the videos. I’ve never met a business owner who refused to speak over the phone about an unfortunate situation where a mutual resolution could have been had.
Her spam emails urging for 5 star reviews is the only reason I can guess she is a super host on Airbnb. Hopefully people will research listings outside of Airbnb when they see it’s run by greedy, large scale property owners like this one. I sure wish I had.
