WORST ACCOMMODATIONS EVER!!

- Good luck with contacting the property manager if you have an issue.... Better luck if something needs to be addressed.
- No WiFi (Very poor reception in the apartment because of router location) even though we paid for the service via rent for the entire week. We actually had to ask a neighbor who was kind enough to share her WiFi password. Try to not feel embarrassed doing that.
- There was sand in my bed (and others), and a necklace laying on the sheet of the bed, under the blanket. Were the sheets even changed/cleaned as part of our purchased/rented linen package? We ended up visiting Walmart to buy our own sheets for the week just to be safe.
- Parking pricing is completely different than what’s listed in the binder in the house (pictures attached), and there was apparently no communication with security advising of our arrival.
- The bedroom ceiling fan was unusable as it seemed like it was minutes from shaking itself off the ceiling and decapitating someone.
- The bedroom window wasn’t lockable! There were no latches (they were removed) on the window which prevented us from keeping the apartment secure.
- A 3-4 inch stream of water ran from the window in the back right bedroom, across the floor, thru clothing I had lying there, and then down thru the wall. I don’t know where the water ended up, but there was a lot – and yes, the window was shut. Each time it rained, there was water. It rained a few days.
- The back bedroom smelled musty/mildewy the whole time – likely from all the water flow.
- You could literally hear EVERYTHING from the apartment below – which started on Thursday. EVERYTHING!!! We had to tell our kids that the water pipes were banging (no pun intented) inside the walls. Thankfully they only banged for a couple minutes.
- The door handles were close to falling off.
- A “damage insurance fee” was paid, but stuff was damaged and not repaired before our move in – which was a complete waste of our money.
- Light switches were missing knobs.
- The flooring in the entire place is on a slope. This made sleeping in the back room bed interesting, as it too was at an angle.
- The mattresses were some of the most uncomfortable mattresses we’ve ever laid on. We literally hated when it was time to go to bed because we knew how much our sleep would suck that night.
- The back left bedroom mattress was acceptable, as was claimed by my son.
- The furnace may have been the loudest furnace on Earth. The location of the air inlet, as well as the accordion style door in the bedroom meant you could hear it’s thunder all day, and all night.
- The TV was mounted in the far left corner, flat on the wall, as viewed from the couch – and canted at an angle. I’ve never seen this! It didn’t matter either way, as the furnace was so loud, and the TV service (box resetting constantly) was so intermittent, that it was nearly impossible to just sit and relax in the evening and watch a little TV before we dreaded heading to bed.
- There is a gas pipe sticking out of the floor. Watch your toes!
- The futon was old, and worn. It was NOT clean, and it was NOT comfortable to sit on. I suppose the lack of comfort on a futon is to be expected, however.
- The showers were moldy/not clean. The mat in the shower had sand under it – sand from prior tenants, I’m assuming.
- The listing stated there would be an air mattress, we saw no air mattress.
- The "private" beach was covered in sheared aluminum cans and lightly buried garbage - as well as a TON of logs.
- Neighbors referred to the property as a dump - they weren't far off. This made for alot of awkward moments when we saw each other.

In short, if you want to stay in the most miserable accommodation you can image, and pay top dollar - rent the South Shore Beach House. If you want something better, there was a trailer park up the road from the beach that had some availability.

Beach Daze 2 & Kelso Beach rentals Management Review ✅
.
I am a professional landlord / property manager in Pittsburgh and my spouse and his 3 friends stayed at Beach Daze 2 before a fishing charter. I was inside the property for approximately 30 minutes, helping to unload linens and food from the cooler.
.
Five stars for the price point, amenities and overall condition of the property *given the price *. I believe many misconceptions exist without recognizing price point.
.
For a whole week rental, at approximately $235 per night, you’re getting 4 separate bedrooms, a deck, a charcoal grill, a fully equipped eat in kitchen, living room with 4 chairs and full sofa, a small sitting room, full bathroom, window AC’s and private beach access.
.
That’s half the price of an Extended Stay - PLUS Beach access!
.
So naturally, the furnishings and the condition of the property are reflective of the price point: worn but not dirty: just decidedly working class.
.
As far as the complaints go about not calling the office I’m not sure what planet people live on. I haven’t taken phone calls direct from tenants in a decade. Email and text are for both routine and emergency situations.
.
If this were my property, I’d spend $10K on fresh paint, bedding, countertop, flooring & assorted small upgrades - and raise the weekly price 40%.
.
This would put it out of reach for many families and I commend Molly & Kelso Beach Rentals for keeping the property affordable.

Do not rent from this company.

Rented Beach Daze 2 for a family vacation.

House was filthier than a boys college apartment.

It is clear that the positive reviews on here are bots or bored "local guides", who haven't actually stayed here .

*black mold present in a.c. units
*dust caked on ceiling fans indicated they had not been cleaned in the past year or more
*stained sheets that cost $200 to rent
*furniture was stained
*dust caked throughout unit
*unstable floors
*Oven did not work and was disgusting
*2 burners on stove did not work
*microwave did not work.
*pots and pans were nasty
*grill was unusable.
*1 bed short of advertised amount.

Management was unresponsive.

The people who own this unit should be ashamed as their business model is short term slum lording. But judging from the other reviews they have no shame and this is just how they operate.

You would be better off digging a hole at the beach to sleep in and burning a pile of money to keep you warm at night.

Paid to stay the week and had no where to park. The internet service didn't work and the customer service is through email only and they were very rude and was no help. There was no mention of the amount of steps needed to get up and down as well as the pictures are very misleading.

Please read ALL of the reviews of this place. They have a listing on airbnb but not under Kelso Beach Rentals, so be aware. The reviews there are wonderful and so we thought it would be really nice, but this was not my experience. Another reviewer on google who rented the same unit I did was almost to the letter of what we encountered. We ended up leaving and not staying at all as it was unclean. The whole experience was difficult. Poor response time and information when asking questions. Some info for the rental isn't given until a few days prior and then you only have so much time if you want to cancel for a full refund. It is on the beach, so keep in mind you are paying for that and that only. I really hate leaving poor reviews, but this was such a nightmare. Things to note, check out is at 9AM, you are expected to clean, tidy, take trash out, strip beds. Basic things such as toilet paper are not included, free parking is only included seemingly in the off months (which we did not have to pay, but, it says free in the details but then has a note saying in the summer you must pay to park.) Parking is a joy in itself, the signs are overgrown, there is no designated parking for all of their units, only some. The one we rented did not come with one. Beware the locals drive very fast down the lane to get to the area. Steps to unit are steep. Sand in the beds under the bedspreads, we even found a rock in one, (you have to make up your bed -sheets were included). This made me wonder if anyone really checked the beds. The fridge was dirty, the stove seemed in disrepair. Please be sure to check for damages upon arrival, we found a broken picture frame in a closet. Had we known the details that were not included in the description, we would have never booked to begin with. If basic is what you're looking for, then it is fine. And hearing the water was really nice, the toilets were clean (that's a huge plus!) I didn't expect the Regency, but, I have stayed in state park cabins cleaner and with more amenities included for far less money and same number of beds.

My family and I stayed in Beach Daze #1 .. all I can say is never again. Upon entering, the house was filthy, looks like it had never been cleaned. There were wads of hair, bugs and sand all throughout the cottage. It smelled musty and moldy and the bathroom was beyond grotesque. I had to hold my breath everytine I walked in the smell was so pungent. Our bedroom was full of carpenter ants and the furniture was dirty and stained. Let's not forget our exterior back door not locking so anybody could just walk right in.. The house advertised 5 beds but we only received 4? I called and messaged the owner about the issue but never received a response. After driving all the way up to discover this, some of our guests actually went back home! You pay to park but are not guaranteed a spot which is absolutely ridiculous. The icing on the cake was when the washer would fill but not drain so we had to wash our clothes by hand. We actually packed up and left a day early, I'd rather forfeit the money to know I'm sleeping in a clean bed. Some of the properties looked well maintained, this was not one of them.

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! I should’ve known from the start. I had scheduled a time to see one of their rentals only to show up and no one was there to meet us. I called and no one answered. Our neighbor gave us the direct landlord number and we called her and she said no one ever told her about it (very rudely). We waited an hour for her to show up. We saw the place and decided to rent it because it was cheap and we needed to move in somewhere ASAP. Once we moved in, we realized the people before us had lived there for 7 years had smoked inside and yellow tar leaked from the ceilings and walls and was nearly impossible to remove. Our basement flooded once because the previous tenant had flushed baby wipes down the toilet. When it flooded, no one answered our calls for maintenance so we had to call a plumber ourself to fix it. In the middle of winter the heat stopped working and it took 4 days for someone to come fix it. There was a HUGE stack of sticks left in our backyard and we called 5 times to get it removed and no one ever came so we burned it ourselves and had to replant grass. We just got our deposit back and they took out $200 for “deep cleaning” when we had the carpets cleaned and spent 3 days making the house spotless. They charged $75 for “removal of belongings in backyard” and I can promise we left absolutely nothing. They charged $150 for “unpaid pet deposit” when we paid one before we ever moved in. The people who work here are rude and don’t care about the rental properties whatsoever. Biggest issue: the plumbing NEVER worked. We had to plunge the toilet every time we used it and it still wouldn’t flush. The shower took hours to drain. Don’t bother.

Rented with Kelso in August 2019 - rental house was far from great with an overall dirty feel, very sparse, cheap furnishings, uncomfortable beds (cheap mattresses on basic frames), and a lack of storage and seating but the main problem was the "guard" at the entry was a chauvinistic jerk. Very full of himself and became exceptionally domineering after initial advances were rebuked. He also tried to tell us he owned the entire place. Tried repeatedly to contact Molly, the agent who had established the rental to verify the rules this guard insisted existed regarding walking and biking from park to house. These were not in the contract. He would also drive/walk by the property and stare up at us while we were on the deck. Complaints to Kelso went ignored. We ended up leaving 2 days early due to the combination of the negative rental experience and inclement weather. Never ever EVER again. Looking back, I should have called the police on this "guard".
