On a whim we took a drive up to check the place out. We were lucky enough to rent a canoe before noon. The staff was friendly and informative. It's a boat rental, that said it's weather worn and seasoned. Which is fine with us! I suggest wearing your river gear before you arrive. The changing area needs a a little TLC, again, it's no big deal.
Our driver was Ian and offered to stop if we needed snacks (beer) or anything else. Great conversation! He put us in at Utica. This was the most beautiful float I've ever been on. We can't wait to go again! It is a long trip, so we'll leave earlier, pack more beverages and snacks. Sunscreen for sure. And there's a head wind once you get on the Allegheny. We saw an eagle, blue heron, ducks and fish. Met nice people along the way as well.

JB and the crew are great! They were indispensable in making our trip 100% enjoyable. They took care of all of the headaches involved in the logistics of a canoe trip. They gave us great tips about where to camp and what options we had.

The OWNER left us stranded for 3 hours. I would highly recommend not to use this place. You launch at their place and go down river (any other place is opposite). When you get to the end you are expected to call them to pick you up, WITHOUT SERVIC E ON THE ALLEGHENY RIVER. They will leave you stranded until they have "time" to pick you up. The owner will sell as many canoes and kayaks but he does not have enough workers to pick you up.
