Ora was absolutely an amazing tour guide. Not only did she dress the part but she really took us back in time. I did snap a picture of a ghost not realizing till I left. But just the history and how everything looked was so impressive and to have certain things like the clock still work today. It’s incredible. Everyone should go and support the Shriver house in Gettysburg.

The Shriver House is a MUST-SEE point on your Gettysburg itinerary! Do NOT visit Gettysburg and skip this immaculate period representation of wartime for civilians. Much of the first day's battle took place right here in town - and especially on this street. My tour guide, Orah, was top notch. She was of course dressed in period attire, was extremely professional, and just a real delight. The tour includes the entire house: the main floor, the saloon in the basement, and the dreadful sniper's nest in the attic. What's special about this museum and tour is that most of the home has been well-restored and preserved, with most of its supports, floors, doors, and furniture being absolutely original (many walls and props of course are not). And it's just incredibly immersive. One can't help but walk away from this experience without a heightened and profound sense of life as it was in 1863, as well as a deeper understanding of the grim realities of war and the toll it takes on civilians.

I don't know why this place isn't on the National Register of Historic Places. It's creepy, but it's not haunted. Ms. Marcia and Orah are absolutely fantastic tour guides and they do an incredible job at maintaining the historic house. It is quite a shame that this family's dream of opening a bar in their basement never became a reality. When you are there, you should sign their petition to save downtown Gettysburg. There is currently a proposal to bulldoze it and replace it with high-rise apartments and other mixed use developments. Over my dead body will I let developers destroy this irreplaceable piece of history of a town.

We had an amazing experience at the Shriver House Museum. Our guide, Lisa, was knowledgeable, kind, and full of amazing recommendations. The family history, restoration of the property, and strategic importance for the battle was awesome. The local businesses really keep the past alive with businesses like this one.

The history of this home is so important to Gettysburg. The tour was very good, the only thing is that we were so rushed. We took some pictures but didn't have time to reflect on what the guide was telling us. We needed a few more minutes to just absorb all the tragedy that occurred there. We were rushed and the guide kept saying shut the door, move along and shut the door behind you. That was disappointing.

Ms Marcia was a wonderful tour guide. This was not something we knew about going into Gettysburg but the tour was so informative. The kids 12 and 10 remember the information and were engaged the whole time. Great family activity.
