What a fun night. Our first time there and it won’t be my last. I enjoyed the lightly dusted deep fried veggies. The chicken wings were great as well. We really enjoyed the location the atmosphere and I want to go back to sit on the outside patio.

We went to Venues for my 56 birthday. I had never been before and it was a lovely surprise. The atmosphere was excellent, not overly loud and Lisa, our server was very nice and attentive. She had excellent recommendations and the menu was very unique. I had the schnitzel and it was traditionally prepared. What a treat. Thank you for a very pleasant surprise.

This was our first time at the Venus Cafe. When we went to carefree to pick up some flavored balsamic vinegars and olive oils, we didn't realize that it was bike weekend! We probably saw more than 5,000 bikers! What a nice treat to look at 🤣 so we went out of town just a little bit to have lunch and pick the Venus Cafe. They had a really nice menu to choose from lots of options, when we arrived we didn't know that they were having fryer issues so anything that needed to be deep fried was not available on the menu and we're thinking that's why Linda's taco salad did not come with a tortilla shell but she said it still was very delicious. My veggie panini had a lot of great flavor points to it. The sourdough bread had a nice tanginess and the crunch added some great texture to the sandwich. Reading back over the menu I noticed that my panini was supposed to have mushrooms and a pesto mayo. It was funny when I was eating the sandwich I thought you know this would really be good with mushrooms! The zucchini had a thick texture to it that held up against the grill, and had a nice smokiness to it and added a good depth to the flavor of this sandwich. The spinach was fresh, not cooked. I like how the tomatoes were sickly sliced so you could get a really nice taste of the tomato. The tomato was ripe and had a very nice heirloom flavor to it. The mayonnaise on the sandwich did pick up the smokiness from the grilled zucchini that rounded out the sandwich. Our waitress was very informative and very attentive. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this quaint cafe. Would I go back, absolutely!

I had a great salmon which was prepared exactly as I requested, something I rarely get, and the vegetables were delicious. My girlfriend really enjoyed her chicken piccata as well and said she'd definitely come back again. Portions and pours were generous and very reasonably priced. Service was great. We received enough attention to make us feel wanted as customers. I never had a bad meal at Venues and would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

We were denied the table we asked for (in the shade) though we had a reservation and the patio was empty. That table sat empty the entire 2 hours we were there. The server acted put out when we didn’t immediately know what we wanted to drink. One of the guests in our party asked if he could get a pickle instead of an olive with his second bloody mary and was told if you want one it will be a dollar charge. We live in Scottsdale and think of our Carefree neighbor as a friendly community, but I’ve never felt so unwelcome. With so many great restaurants in Carefree, we won’t miss Venues.

They had a Valentine’s Day special — filet and lobster tail dinner (salad and vegetable). The meal was excellent and our server, “Bronco” was also excellent. The hostess and server were so pleasant that we did something we haven’t done in years—we ordered a bottle of wine (also excellent).

The café was a disappointment—slow service, disorganized staff, and a frustrating overall experience. My order took forever, and when it finally arrived, it was wrong. However, the one saving grace was Ryan, the food runner. He was polite, attentive, and handled the situation with professionalism, making the experience slightly more bearable. If the rest of the staff had his work ethic, this place would be much better. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return, but Ryan deserves recognition for his excellent service.

The food here is always very tasty. There was no urgency to take care of us. I had to go find our waiter because once our food was delivered, he never returned to check on us. We were missing part of our order and halfway through the meal when he still never returned I had to go find him. No one came to refill drinks either. Upon leaving we found our waiter outside petting a dog! Let's hope he washed his hands. Don't think we will return.
