I went on a fishing charter for rock fish with 4 other ladies and we had a FANTASTIC time! Captain Chris and Deckhand Nick were so nice and patient with us. We all limited out on rock fish pretty quickly and we all caught lingcod as well! I feel like Captain Chris really tried hard to get us on fish and it was probably one of the funnest times I've had on a charter....and I've been out around 6 times on a different charter outfit. Most of the ladies in our group had either never been fishing or hadn't done it in awhile and they all said they really wanted to do it again! We spent the majority of the time fishing with very little moving around to different spots which I appreciated. Thank you to the whole crew!!!

Horrible Experience with toddlers.
We called while we were planning our vacation to ask if the tour would be suitable for us (2 couples with 3 toddlers). We were told yes and that there is a climate controlled cabin and a bathroom, we booked a 2pm tour.
The morning of our tour at 11am we went to the aquarium in newport. They called at 11:15 to ask if we could make the 12:30 trip, We decided to go and come back to the aquarium in the afternoon. Had we been told how rough the seas were that day we would not have come. Even if we had lost half the payment we had pre-paid it would have been ok. However we got on the boat no one warned us how rough the seas were and we not prepared for the situation we faced. There was no climate controlled cabin and what seats were available had deep sea fishing rods and reels with large fishhooks in them placed across the booths. We scooched in the booths anyway with our children since if you were standing outside they advised to keep both hands on the rail (and it was necessary due to the horrible waves and impossible with toddlers) . The captain even said “this isnt fun for us either”, well they should have given the customers the choice to avoid the experience.
I think they had the fishing poles there because they did not want people to sit inside and risk throwing up in the cabin. That seems to be the only thing they were concerned with and my friend did go outside and threw up over the side. The deck mate came by as I was holding my one year-old and said it’s important that you go outside if you get sick. I looked him in the eye and said, It would’ve been important to move these fishing poles with sharp hooks from the seating my toddler and I are sharing. He made no apologies but then did move the ones beside us. Im not being dramatic I just feel like it was negligent for them not to explain the situation to us with our children present and several older people also had issues, one gentleman fell. Overall a horrible experience.

We had a lot of fun on this trip! We got to see whales surface a few times! The deck hands were very helpful in pointing out where to look for the whales. I would suggest taking something for motion sickness before going out, it is a bumpy ride!

We booked the 5 hour deep sea with crabbing. This is the second time we used Tradewinds. Excellent trip as expected. The captain and deck hand were excellent instructors and very patient with us intermediate anglers. Make sure to take dramamine or benadryl at least 1/2 hour before boarding. This time around I brought light gloves for grip on the wet boat railing and for warmth, glad I did. 2 of us caught 4 sea bass and one Ling cod. Great times.

Dang! We had a great time on the 5hr crab and fishing tour. Capt Caleb and deck man AJ were great. They helped and hustled. We would up with 7 rockfish and a big whack of crab to take home. The fish processing is an amazing deal for $2/fish. Watching that man deftly slice fillets from our fish was awesome. Chatted with the fish biologist too and learned a little about rockfish harvesting and interesting age class data. Really a great way to spend nearly an entire in depot bay! We'll be back!

First time out on an Oregon whale watching trip and it did not disappoint!! The captain was knowledgeable of the area and we got to see one of the Oregon Coast resident grey whales.

Husband and I had a very enjoyable trip fishing. Captain and crew were great. Put us on fish several times and everyone in the boat caught something. We even had a chance to see a couple whales while out.

Expect to get wet towards the front of the boat. We didn't see any whales but it was still a fun experience. There are a lot of stairs to get down to the dock.
