Lake Dardanelle State Park is only a short, unstressful drive from Mount Nebo State Park and is totally worth the effort. The visitors center is situated along the lake and offers a truly unique and wonderful interactive experience great for those both young and old. There are a number of aquariums that beautifully represent the lake's inhabitants, as well as an active bee hive, a turtle pond, frogs and lizards. To give you an idea of just how vast they are, they hold 8000 pounds of water as well as one twenty-one year old catfish known as the grandfather. The gift shop is better than most with tees, local crafts, jewelry and knives among other things. There's great vistas, picnic areas and an extensive boardwalk to experience the lake's natural beauty. Finally, there is also a fishing pier for those so inclined.

Dog friendly! Beautiful in the daytime and at dusk for Sunset! We enjoyed a walk through the park in the evening and had a lovely time watching people fish during the day. Small swimming spot and picnic tables are everywhere if you want to bring lunch!

What a great park/lake. Just stunning views all around you. Staff are tops and very friendly and personable. Will be going on a boat tour on Saturday. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate. There's one odd thing about this park, and this is my opinion, and the personnel unsettling thing is there's the nuclear one power close by. And it's kinda cool that it is there. Make for great pictures.

A fantastic state park! I'm working on all 52 and this is one of my favorites.

My favorite thing about this park, and paddling the lake on it, is that you have some great options, to get out in the open water, or go through more narrow canals, or just stay around a beach. And the most unique thing about it, you can paddle while seeing a nearby nuclear reactor in the distance, that very likely is there to use the lake as a cooling factor, should the need arise.

It's just epic and cool to paddle with a nuclear reactor in the background.

Also, this lake can be seen from lookouts at Mt Nebo State Park and likewise you can paddle on portions of this lake and look up to Mt Nebo.

Lastly, the visitor center is the best I'd encountered so far at the state parks. They have fish and turtles in aquariums that you can see and in some cases touch.

Wonderful park.

What a beautiful state park in a beautiful state! We stayed there for about a week visiting family in the area. We were in spot 56 which is the furthest from the water, bathrooms, etc but it was still awesome! We have dogs so we like our privacy and most days we only has one other camper in our loop. It's also a big spot with lots of room for kids to run around. The swimming hole is nice and shallow for quite a ways which is great for littles who can't swim (and their mamas). The bathrooms are spacious. There were plenty of squirrels and they were pretty entertaining. ? The ladies at the visitor center were all very friendly. I could have stayed longer but unfortunately we had to get back to real life.

Nestled between mountains and the Arkansas River, this state park was absolutely gorgeous, only stayed one night due to it already being full but there was a cancellation so I got to get in. Tent camping is the way to go. Campsites are right on the lake. There are some trails here but I didn't get to do them, and the bath houses I'm not usually one to comment just for bathhouses but these were extremely nice, six of them and all and each had a private shower in them. I was impressed. I would definitely camp here again in a heartbeat. The views are just outstanding.

Beautiful, well kept park. Restrooms/Showers large and clean! Picturesque views. Only a few pull through sites, but all are well maintained and pretty flat.

We ended up going on a rainy day and coming back on a sunny one. Even on a rainy day the visitors center is great. Lots to look at and you can even hold turtles!
