Mitchell Grove is the definition of DIY wedding! Will and Julie, the owners of this beautiful and majestic space, were communicative, graceful, and very welcoming throughout the entire year of me planning my wedding. I cannot stress this enough, if you love crafting and DIY’ing, then this is the place for your special day! They have a lending closet where you can create your vision for your day, and I highly recommend using it! They have a lot of space to work with, seasonal flowers throughout the venue that really compliment YOU, your guests, and your vision. Julie helped give me some ideas along the way, and Will was very responsive to all of my inquiries along the way. They truly care about making sure that your special day comes to life. After my wedding, I spent a couple trips looking for my vow book and some crafts I misplaced, and they tried looking for them for me and let me come over to look for them myself. This simple gesture was really a cherry on top of my experience with them.

Tucked in the redwoods, there is a magical grove of old growth apple trees ✨ We felt the magic of Mitchell Grove the moment we arrived and the feeling never left. With the intimacy of a backyard wedding and the beauty of the homestead, we knew we were going to get married here.

Even though we had to cancel our wedding celebrations due to COVID-19, I still had to share my experience. Owners, Will and Julie, who were also married in the Grove, are a dream to work with. There is no limit to how many times we could visit before the wedding and we were always greeted with smiling faces (and sometimes a glass of homemade cider ☺️). They worked with us to make our DIY wedding truly ours. When it came to cancelling, it was quick and painless, which I was so thankful for. I highly recommend Mitchell Grove for your wedding or big event. You can even book a separate day to make cider from the apples and serve it at your wedding. Though we are not able to have the day we dreamed of, Will and Julie - thank you for making this experience magical ?

Our wedding was held at Mitchell grove July 2019. Our experience with this venue was extremely positive and we really feel that having our wedding at Mitchell Grove is a big piece of what made it so special. We looked at many, many venues in Humboldt County with a few requirements: we could bring our own caterer, we could bring our own alcohol, we could bring our own DJ, and it had beautiful outdoor spaces. Mitchell Grove not only checked all of these boxes but another one that almost no other venue did: BATHROOMS! Nice bathrooms! Multiple! (Seriously, this is not to be underrated). Also, you rent the venue from Friday morning- Sunday afternoon which is so so nice for DIY brides like myself. After weeks of trying to get in contact with various venues, dealing with grouchy venue managers and reading through not-so-generous contracts viewing Mitchell Grove was a breath of fresh air. The owners Will & Julie were extremely quick in their communications and gave us a same day tour. They spent so much time showing us around and answering questions and even offered to save booking our date for a week to give us time to decide. I had originally wanted to have our wedding at Pamplin Grove so that we could be surrounded by nature and the redwoods, and I feel like I missed out on none of that having our wedding at Mitchell Grove. It has big wow factor, and many of our guests were wowed by it's beauty as well. Through the year of planning Will & Julie let us come out to the venue a couple of times for planning and were always really gracious and welcoming while we were there. The weekend of the wedding they were helpful, available and did a lot of awesome behind the scenes help. Another awesome thing- they have lots of little extras available- such as chairs, various decorations, arch ways, etc. The weekend of the wedding went smoothly and I was blown away by how beautifully landscaped the entire property was. In the owners words- this is a perfect venue for "DIY-ish" brides. If you are looking for a beautiful laid back venue but also like maybe aren't into pit toilets, Mitchell Grove is awesome. If you are looking at venues in Humboldt County, at least tour Mitchell Grove before making a decision!

Um, it's a very nice wedding rental. Nice halls and such. Ex-orchard don't produce so converted to a spot in a forest to hang out. limited parking for 30 cars. And its a petting zoo. look it up its coo.

Came here for our friend's wedding and it was absolutely gorgeous. We arrived around 3:30pm.

Getting There: The google map directions were 100ft or so off that it lead to a residential home. 4 guest cars all did a 3-point turn to find the actual entrance, a downward slope. I suggest a larger main sign, the possibility of a reflective sign, or closer to the street. Otherwise, the signs toward the location were clear and visible.

Venue: There were some wasps around that made the appetizer table tedious to be around, but it was managable. Bathrooms were very clean, heaters kept guests toasty, dance floor lacked tripping hazards, and the overall amentities were pristine. Their venue rules were also kindly stated throughout the space.

Yesterday was our wedding. This venue is gorgeous. The owners are polite, hospitable and cooperative. They offer advice and decorations if needed that have been donated by previous weddings. It was perfect. This place is perfect. Outdoor wedding your desire? Choose Mitchell Grove.
