Oh my god! What a place! Heaven! The cabin is perfect in size and layout. We enjoyed cooking and having a fire outside. We quickly discovered an awesome bbq place in town and my teenage boys insisted on doing lunches there. Well, they also sell pizzas to bake at home so we didn’t end up cooking as much as I planned. Which was good, because we were fishing All DAY! Steph and Heidi are welcoming amazing hosts. Every thing we needed they got it for us. They are generous, respectful of one’s privacy and accommodating.
Going back there again probably every year in the near future. I don’t have pictures from the trip because I made a point to just cherish the memories in my heart this time, and there were a lot of them this time around.

Amazing experience! Not only was the house clean, cozy, and well equipped, but the hosts were incredibly friendly and willing to help make sure we got as much out of our trip as possible. They offered exploring insight, paddle boarding lessons, friendly conversation and so much more! We came for a bachelorette party and felt more than welcomed. The house was in good standing (furnished kitchen, comfy sitting spots, great air conditioning) and able to accommodate many sleepers. The hot tub and river across the street were lovely for both day and night time activities. Close to adventure spots, water, and we saw many deer as we enjoyed our meals on the front patio. Only thing to keep in mind is phone/internet service is minimal so enjoy your time there to unplug and fully relax (:
Definitely would visit again, 3 days wasn't enough!

We stayed here for the fourth of July weekend. We had my family of 5 plus my cousins family of three. Even with 4 adults and 4 kids we had plenty of space and peace. Heidi and Steph are truly amazing hosts, they were so accommodating and involved, they even hooked up the fire hose and let my boys practice firing it off. It was such a great place to stay, we will absolutely be back!

Our family of 5 needed to get away so we could focus on work we had not been able to get to. We came to the right place. The cabin was perfect. The hosts were excellent. We were able to do some work down by the river, enjoy the stars while lounging in the hot tub at night, and all while avoiding the nuisance of cell phones.
If we had the time, we would have loved the stand up paddle board and kayak lessons offered by our hosts. Maybe next time. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

We spent a week at the Sow's Ear cabin, which is part of the Trinity River Adventure Cabins. It was a wonderful week! The cabin is really nice and is supplied with everything one could need and then some. Beds are very nice and the furniture is so comfortable. It has a beautiful large covered patio with very comfortable furniture. It faces the Trinity River, which you can see from the patio. We spent a lot of time on the patio.
Wildlife is abundant, which we loved! We took a walk the first night and a little way from the cabin we came upon 13 deer in a field. They paid little attention to us as we watched, took pictures and walked by. We discovered that the deer roam the area and they would often go right thru our front yard as we sat on the patio.
Steph and Heidi couldn't have been nicer! They were so friendly and ready to help in any way needed. They were delightful to chat with. You felt like you had known them for years. They have a beautiful patio right on the river which they encouraged us to use at any time. We spent lovely times watching the river and enjoying the scenery. We even saw a beaver in the river right out from the patio!
The neighbors in this rural mountain area were extremely friendly and chatted with us on our walks. We saw very few cars and it a very quiet area. In the cars we did see, every single one of the drivers waved to us. The trees are so beautiful in the area-just spectacular scenery!
We look forward to returning to Sow's Ear! Loved it and Steph & Heidi!!

My two retired brothers and I do an annual “Fishin’” trip, to catch up on Family doings, drown a few innocent worms and generally enjoy each other’s company. This past May we decided to sample the wild and scenic Trinity River area, and, were so very lucky to happen upon The Sow’s Ear for our annual get-together. Hosts Steph and Heidi have set this home up to be warm and welcoming, with a lovely screened front porch from which to enjoy the scenery and ever-present gentle song of the Trinity River. We all slept well in the three comfortable bedrooms, and enjoyed lots of meals together in the nicely appointed kitchen and dining area. Each morning we awoke to bird song from quail, flickers, stellar’s jays, ospreys, red tale hawks and ravens, with lots of local deer grazing peacefully through the wooded property. Weaverville is just up the road with full-service supermarkets and plenty of restaurant options. We were happy and relieved that this summers’ horrific Carr Fire was halted about two miles east of the Bucktail area, leaving this precious Trinity River watercourse undamaged. If you are looking for some delicious peace and quiet in a wild and scenic northern California river setting, look no further than Steph and Heidi’s “Sow’s Ear”. Dan Hamilton, Seaside, Oregon

Your website is such a pleasant trip down memory lane that I want to assure anyone considering a stay with you that your pictures are not overstating what they have to look forward to. In fact, I think it is not doing your Sow's Ear facilities justice.
The main purpose of this review is to urge and assure anyone who is planning a vacation trip of any kind to study your website and know that the people and facilities they see within it's pages are what they can expect plus a whole lot more. This fishing trio will be back.
