We went rafting on 7/15/24. I've been white water rafting twice before, once elsewhere in the ADK and once in West Virginia and this was by far the BEST trip I've been on!
Larry was not my raft guide, but he interacted with everyone beforehand and was WONDERFUL, his sense of humor tied into the protocals in a way that helped you remember them and was just overall very pleasant!

Our raft guide was Allan B. and he was THE FREAKING BEST guide I can imagine! He was hilarious which made the experience SO MUCH fun but I had full confidence in his expertise and experience as a guide. He wasted no time in pulling me back into the boat when I fell out and helped assist a whole raft of swimmers when their raft flipped.

He remained calm during all conditions and was just the most amazing guide and I can't speak enough great things about him!
He has his two kids in the raft too and they were adorable/bada$$ and knew what they were doing as well!
I would 100% recommend this place if you're going white water rafting, as all the guides seemed great (not as great as Allan, but....) and I would 100% come back and do this same river again!!!

The safety kayaker Nasty Nate was also great! He was super nice when we chatted before the trip and the silent worker behind the scenes, making sure everyone was good and doing whatever it was he was doing that we didn't notice because we were having such a good time!

Also - safety is absolutely their top priority! The water levels were VERY high for the summer and they made sure everyone knew that before getting in the rafts in case anyone wanted to change their minds.
I felt safe the entire time and had one of the best experiences of my 34 years of life!!!

We experienced the Black River in a whole new light, I'm glad my wife convinced me to go! Dylan was fantastic as our guide but you cannot go wrong with any of the knowledgeable staff. We booked late but ARO was more than accommodating in getting us in a boat. Highly recommend- excellent day from start to finish.

We had an awesome trip down the Black River. Our guide Steve was fantastic. He's very funny but makes sure you know what to do to stay in the raft. The water was very fast with big rapids. A couple of the people in our raft were very nervous at the start but by the end of the trip agreed we need to do it again.

As a veteran Navy aircrew and aircraft mechanic, and now a proud grandma in her 60s, I have had a lot of experience with excitement, fun and adventure. And I will say this was one of the top 10 most exciting and fun experiences I have had in my life! I highly recommend it to people of all ages to try this wonderful adventure! A special shout out to Magic Matt for making this not only fun, safe, but highly enjoyable. A truly funny guy 😉

I went with my husband, his sister and husband and I can say we all had the time of our lives. Steve aka “Stevie” was our guide and he was hilarious and so fun. He was so knowledgeable about the towns history as well which made the trip that much better. He made us feel really safe, while also allowing us to have an amazing time. I can’t wait to go again!! We’re planning on doing moose river in April and requesting Steve as our guide. I chatted with Larry and one of the other guys who helped organize everyone together at the beginning and I can tell you they were all nice. I can tell these guys all genuinely love their jobs. All I have to say is keep up the good work guys!!! Book a trip, it’s well worth it!!

We went white water rafting on the Black River for my husband's birthday and all I can say is we had an amazing time. Our guide Alan was so skilled and made our experience the best! 10/10 would recommend everyone do this at least once in your life. It was so much fun and this company is very professional and informative every step of the way. This was our 1st white water rafting experience and I can't say enough good! I would definitely go again!

This was our first time rafting. Adirondack River Outfitters went above and beyond for everyone. The entire day was well planned and we definitely felt safe. The instructions and directions were definitely well communicated throughout the entire trip. I would definitely recommend them!!!!
